The whole Heat/bandwagon theme that is taking over the MSB got me thinking. If you're favorite team is outside your state (or where you're from), when did you become a fan and why?

New York Knicks- my first sports team I ever adopted. As long as I could remember I was a Knick fan. Patrick Ewing was/is my favorite player of all time. Hell, I even had a pair of his shoes in 5th grade. Their style of play and Ewing was pretty much why they became my team.

Pittsburgh Steelers- in Jr high, I watched a MNF game with my dad and Jerome Bettis was absolutely running thru people that night. He became my favorite player and have been following the steelers ever since.

Family originally from ny

Dad died about a month before I was born. When I got old enough learned that he was a mets fan when they arrived (Brooklyn fan left without a nl team) and found a original 62 pennant he had bought

Been a fan ever since from the Craig swan days and beyond lol

Although I don't follow MLB like I used to, the San Francisco Giants were my favorite team because of one reason - Will Clark.

Heat

Dad use to drive me down to Miami every Sunday from New Orleans to catch the Heat in action. I thank my dad everyday for that. Now we got King James and we take the jet on Wednesday to watch him courtside.

That's me becoming a fan. Family is from Anniston. Mom went to Ole Miss. I laugh when people call folks bandwagon fans. I'm just as much a fan of UA as anyone on this planet.

That's one of the main reasons I hate the Braves. Always preempting my beloved wrestling on Saturdays.

Celtics because my family is Irish and I have too like one Irish themed team. Notre dame was out because all my dads side is LSU diehards. I grew to love the celtics though

Red Sox fan here.

My hometown city doesn't have a professional team and neither the Astro's nor the Rangers were any good when I got into baseball.

Had a good friend whose dad played minor league ball for the Red Sox and he was a huge Red Sox fan. Slowly began watching the Red Sox, big fan of Nomar Garciaparra and eventually adopted the Red Sox as my team.

Braves - spring training site in West Palm Beach. Used to go all day as a littl kid to see the scrubs on the back fields hen watch the main squad on he Municipal Stadium field. This was in the early 70s. NO ONE was a bandwagoner in those days.

Honestly, I am from New Orleans and i am a LSU grad, Saints and Pelicans fan.

I initially adopted the Cubs i had an older cousin i looked up to who was a cubs fan, and they had a lot of games on TV. I find it hard to really get into pro baseball due to lack of an inherent team. Like i still have a soft spot for the cubbies, but why subject myself to being a cubs fan when they suck and i am not form Chicago? At the same time i hate being a bandwagon jumper.

Before we got a Basketball team i was a BUlls fan, but that was because i am a 90's kid and MJ was too good not to like.
