Seriously go find that damn thing now. Could be a world record. Would make a hell of a belt. Some taxidermist would love it.

Hell yeah. I've never seen one over 3 foot and I've seen a helluva a lot of copperheads.

Water snakes, water moccasins, and racers will all come at you. I have killed many diamond back water snakes and a few mocassins with a push lawn mower.

Killed an almost 4 footer.

This one has to be 4'6" at least.

I have not found the copperhead to be docile. Very aggressive.

As a matter of fact, I've seen one in captivity that killed itself striking at the cage. I've also witnessed juveniles attack.

And also had one submerse underwater to retreat. Found it on a dead stump several yards off the bank, obviously feeding. Would have thought it would have stayed there, or at least stayed on the surface.

That there is not a Copperhead. Always used to fool me. I caught and sold snakes for years. Older brother milked Cotton Mouths for venom.
Can't recall real name, know as Chicken snake to many.

It was def a venomous snake. I had venom on my pants and it was certainly a pit viper. The venom pits were distinct on its triangular head with its vertical pupils. I've seen a hell of a lot of chicken snakes in the barn. This was no chicken snake.
