According to league sources, Saunders is a big fan of Indiana guard Victor Oladipo, and the only way to get him is to move up from the ninth-spot.

It says they may try to move to Charlotte's spot at #4, but should Oladipo fall, do you think we can work out some type of deal that would net us Pekovic in exchange for our 6th pick?

Broken link

I don't know if I see Oladipo falling to 6. If they really want him they'll trade higher than that

They can't do anything with Pekovic until the start of the new league year, as he is an RFA as opposed to still being under contract.

We could draft Oladipo and flip him to the Wolves for Pekovic and the player chosen 9th, but it would take place after the draft and there is no guarantee that player will be someone we want.

does anyone have a link to monty or dell saying anything specific about Pekovic or is everyone on the board just jumping on what one guy said about him?

there's a large collective love for the guy on here, so i was wondering if there was any specific reason for it.

I think it's mostly because we have 4 finesse bigs and he's a bruiser that is believed to have a lot of upside left.

nope. we just have memory of monty expressing his want for more length, strength and skills at the rim. The Pekmyster Pekmonster
no he's not flashy but he's strong and very decisive with his moves. notice how often he goes straight up after he gets the rock. that increase scoring chances drastically. watch him gain position on his foes! shaq was the last man to consistently put his man under the rim.

Can you imagine the combo of AD RYNO and PEK...that could be something special...god forbid EG ever stays healthy and AR puts it together...we would be a slashing 3 away from a team that could make some legit noise.

People thought Hibbert and Gasol were going to get paid well but I don't remember too many max predictions, more like $1-$2 million below max IIRC. The Pekovic chatter seems pretty similar so I wouldn't be surprised if he got a max offer from someone.

Damn. Max contract for him? He's definitely in the right year for him to be a FA. I like him and all, and we definitely can use a big bruiser like him, but is he worth a max deal? Idk?

The number I've seen thrown around is in the $12m / season range.

Hibbert got around $14m a season, but that was because Portland made a hard play for him and offered max money.

They may try again this season, but they would have to decline their qualifying offer of $5m on Eric Maynor in order to do it and possibly dump off other salary as well such as Joel Freeland.

My stance is "What are our alternatives?"

If we're convinced that Pek can fill the holes we need, pay the man.

Otherwise, we'll be taking a lottery ticket in Len or Zeller and hoping that they pay off 2-3 years down the line.

Yeah, I'm not digging that. I don't want any more projects. You convinced me. Let's pay the man.

I think Minnesota is up against it with the salary cap, right? Would they be more inclined to move Love and keep Pek? Does Love get substantial mins at the 5?
