A source familiar with Howard's thinking says he plans to test free agency and has considered the Lakers, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and Golden State.

The Warriors have no cap space so he could only get there via trade. This is either complete BS or Dwight is trying to get LA used to the idea of trading him so he can end up in his preferred destination.

Could Lee + Barnes or Lee + Thompson get it done money wise?

I would LMAO if the Lakers were able to pull that off. No way it happens though Jerry West is no dummy

Can the Lakers even trade Howard right now?

If they could get Lee + Barnes/ Thompson and didn't pull the trigger would be a classic move by Buss Jr

GS was a team who wanted to make a play for him last year, which is why they're being thrown around.

Him ending up there means GS sends Bogut and other assets back to LA, such as Brandon Rush, Festus Ezeli, Draymond Green, a 2014 first, and/or a S&T of Jack.

They can't send Carl Landry in a S&T because they only have 1 year of Bird rights on him. LA won't take Biedrins or Richard Jefferson.

GS won't send out David Lee or Curry for sure, as they are two of the key pieces of their lineup, and likely wouldn't part with Barnes or Thompson if they are already giving up Bogut.

After July 1st they can do a S&T of Howard, they just can't receive a S&T player because of the new tax rules.

Doesn't make sense for Howard to even agree to a S&T. With the new CBA, he would still only get 4/$87m. Only way he can get the 5 year max is to sign and stay with L.A.
