When Leadering a big fish (ie Billfish,etc.) ALWAYS do the following
1A) Wear gloves
1) Grab line with palm down and thumb side toward the fish.
2) Make clockwise wrist twists, bringing hand under fish side of line every time you make a wrap.
3) If fish runs and you must release, simply open your hand, the line will fall right off.
If you wrap any other way and the fish runs, she will pull you in the water with her and/or slice up you hand.
Was one of the first things I learned when offshore fishing. I have seen close calls of guys leadering marlin the wrong way.

Always watch the weather when on the ocean. Life jackets always while on the ocean. Always make a "check call" on the VHF when you're out on the ocean. Never haul arse on the ocean when it's whale season.

be careful around logs, snakes love them
Let someone know where you are.
Unload your weapon, even if it is a dog knocks it over, an unloaded weapon cant fire.
Trailers should have safety chains on them, make sure bearings are good and lights functional.
No riding on bow of bass boat while under power.
Kill switches are good
Clean any cuts caused by game or fish immediately and well.
Poison ivy loses its leaves, watch out for it on trees and on clothes afterwards if you are allergic.
A old pair of broke in boots is always preferable to a new pair when going to be walking any long distances.
Let someone know where you are.

When in a duck blind, for all that is holy shoot in your window, don't ring shots across the whole blind. Not only does it ring the hell out of peoples ears, but you could kill someone.

Never sink a 12 gauge shell in the ground, angled back at you, and then shoot the primer with a .22.

More power to you. I have had to shoot several hogs between the eyes at close distance as they were charging me after beign wounded. There is just too much pork available to put myself in harms way.

Always prepare in advance. A lot of times people get hurt because they aren't prepared and they are trying to compensate for lost time. Remember the 7 Ps:

Yup, this is how I learned these rules. I wasn't completely innocent in that either, but that lesson has stuck well.

My brother did this twice to me in one hunt. I about wanted to knock his head off.

We will shoot late flyers as we are picking up decoys sometimes (both out of the blind rarely over each others heads). Hell we have sat on opposite sides of the 7 acre lake we hunt (200 yards apart) duck hunting before. We identify our muzzle swing limits prior to shooting hours and abide by them. I would never do this with any other hunter.
