Soon-to-be free-agent center Dwight Howard will give “strong consideration” to signing with the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks, CBS Sports’ Ken Berger reported on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Lakers are hoping for a quick decision from Howard on whether he will re-sign with the team, but it appears likely that the process will be drawn out.

According to Berger, Howard is most intrigued by the Rockets, who would need to make a few moves to be able to sign Howard. Berger reported that Howard likes the Rockets’ roster, which includes a young star in James Harden and a complementary, 26-year-old 7-footer in Omer Asik.

Before he was traded to the Lakers last offseason, the Rockets were involved in discussions to acquire Howard from the Orlando Magic.

So what has changed with houston? Wasn't he adamantly against being traded to houston when he was on the magic? Is it bc now there's a James Hardin there?

You'd think the rockets would be a great fit for D12. Much bigger than orlando, not as huge as LA, soft media, young roster. I'm a huge Dwight guy, but I'm not getting my hopes up with this flake. I'll celebrate after the presser.

More than likely. Though he also refused to get traded to GSW, which is where he should have wanted to go to begin with. Dwight probably doesn't even know what he wants though.

I'm surprised more bi money players don't go to Texas.

No state sales tax.

Romo is the highest grossing nfl athlete.

Meh, you're not going to get a better player than him.

If we get Howard it would be interesting to see what we do with Asik.

I really don't think for a second he is intending to play for anyone else but the Lakers.

I think he hates Kobe's guts. So anything is possible.

I'm a Mavs fan.....Howard can go to Houston, stay in LA or go anywhere other than Dallas.

I doubt the Lakers have the guts to amnesty Kobe and put all their cards on DH... so I could see DH going elsewhere

My theory is that d12 went to LA only to give his true love a year to make key moves. At the same time, he has a chance to win a title in LA.
