How did Dwight have the authority to fire Toby? From what I remember Michael tried many times but he has no power over Toby since he's an HR rep who works for corporate.

David Wallace okayed it.
that was pre-Sabre when Michael was trying to fire him.
the office didn't need Toby as much once Wallace streamlined the company.

It's over. Let it go if you didn't like it

Read my post history. I loved it, I was just asking a question...

Oh okay it was really confusing since it was a recurring gag with Michael Scott

It shows how disconnected/isolated Dwight is that he considers a casual work acquaintance one of his best friends.

They have been "friends", but Dwight always tried to make more of it. That was just his point of view/overreaction. Similar to Jim being his best man, him always thinking so much of Michael, etc.

I thought the finale was great, and am a huge Office fan in general- but the one inconsistency I noticed from the last season was the mic situation. They explained that even when they took their mics off, the boom mics could pick up sound from a certain distance (Pam at Brian's house for example), but in Goodbye Michael, when he took his mic off, you couldn't hear hear anything, even when he says "That's what she said" a foot away from the mics and cameras.

They would probably say they just didn't bring a boom mic to the airport that day.
