Could a 20 lbs.test hold on to a Marlin for that long? Hard to believe.

No where near 300 lbs. Not even 100.

Very cool but... That is only 300 pounds on swamp people scales.
Also I have a question for people who do this type of thing more than me. If you fight a fish like that for 5 hours does the fish die? Is it all but useless if it has to sun from a predator for the next few days? Just wondering cuz it seems like to me you may as well kill it and eat it at that point.

I could believe the 20 lb test. My wife just caught a 4 ft spinner shark on 18 lb test with an 80lb mono leader this past weekend. The yak acts as a buffer anyway. When the marlin pulls the yak just goes with it so not much stress on the line.

Wow, that's pretty amazing.
