Derek wows B.B. Ends up telling Derek he's the best he's heard. What a compliment.

Think Mayer realizes he's out of his league?

Yea, he may not play much in that video, but he's on par with Trucks.

shite BB didn't play either, that was all about Trucks playing and BB talking about if he was a girl.

I know Mayer can play. He's up there for sure. But on the stage, the only player he's better than is Susan...and Susan can play too. Derek does kill it there

Dude cracks me up. It is going to be a sad, sad day when this world no longer has B.B King.

More from the same concert. Mayer gets in on the action here.

I'd love to see a show of hands that wouldn't plow through the girls mayer did if given the opportunity. It actually would have pissed me off more had mayer passed on all this girls.

That said, mayer is in their league, trucks owns the league.

You gotta believe that if there is a heaven you could find Duane up there smiling down on Derek.

Doing his damndest to fill Duane's shoes and he's doing a better job than anyone could ever expect.

Mayer is a great player but he can't even come close to doing the stuff that Derek does in terms of slide playing. Apples and oranges.

I don't I've ever even heard him attempt to play slide.

I'm sure he can play a little slide, most of the greats can, but he already has his style and sound no real reason for him to pull out a slide very often.

Kind of like how you rarely see trucks play WITHOUT one

Yeah I didn't mean to imply that JM is somehow inferior. He's obviously a great player and a great songwriter. He is very versatile.

Derek is more stylized and I'm not sure how much songwriting he does. If you search around youtube you can find some stuff where Warren is playing slide and Derek isn't and it's cool.

There is one video of warren and Derek with acoustics in the dressing room and its amazing. I wish I could remember what they are playing but I'm drawing a blank.

And JM is definitely inferior but pretty much everyone else is too

great song. my favorite of that album.

Is that still the only Allman Brothers song to not feature a member of the original lineup?

Trucks and Mayer are both prodigies in their own rite. Totally different styles, both great players.

Love this video. Been in my youtube favorites for quite a while

I'm not sure if there's anyone that can touch Trucks right now, but these (Trucks and Mayer) are 2 of the best there is, and both do it in different styles. Someone with a lot of money needs to set up a show with them, Bonamassa, White, Frusciante and Gary Clark Jr.
