Future for LSU Baseball Prospects

Kris Bryant, Jr, San Diego, leads the nation in HR, 28, Walks, Total Bases, and Slugging Percentage. And this isn't the first time his name has come across the table. He finished 2012 with 14 HR, 57 RBI, and a .366 BA.
After looking over his numbers and rankings out of high school, one thing is true, this kid wasn't a HR threat and first rounder out the gate, he earned it.
My point?
Well, Kevin Gausman was ranked 17th nationally the same year. They both game out of HS the same time. Kris Bryant was ranked 39th and drafted in the 18th round but he developed into this ridiculous powerhouse at the NCAA level.
Nick Longhi and Jake Fraley could end up like this guy.
Just a thought. If Longhi doesn't make it to campus, Fraley almost def will. And could end up the next Kris Bryant.
(We needed more baseball talk around here today)

Just imagine if we somehow get Williams, Longhi, and Fraley... I know it's basically 0% chance, but ... hang on I need to go clean off my screen

I still think Williams makes it on campus but no one seems to agree. He continues to fall off the chart. He was a high first rounder and now barely a second rounder.
The teams aren't going to be tossing money his way to sway his decision if the scouts are starting to move him down the list. Just saying

.366 BA in high school is pretty shitty IMO

Is that what he's at right now? Damn he may make it to campus unless he's dropped 20 bombs this year. Top prospects (like Bregman) are hitting .500 and above in high school. Even the "power potential" projects are in the .400s and double digit homers.

The 2 big time outfielders we have coming in are going to really shakeup the outfield IMO.

Is not the same as...

which is what we've all been trying to tell you.
Fraley will be very good but isn't going to be a big power hitter.

Bobby Bradley, a commit from Gulfport Ms, hit .675 this year with double digit HR in our biggest class. He plays in a playoff game tomorrow night vs defending state champs Oak Grove. We play best of 3 series here

Greatly depends on where you play. If you are playing in 5A in the DFW or Houston area then thats pretty good.

I never recall him a high first rounder. Highest I ever saw him was in the 20s or so.

Too bad he still has another year in high school.

True, my son certainly gets some great pitches though with him batting behind him in summer ball though.

He hit .366 as a Soph at San Diego college.
His numbers from 2012 is NCAA numbers. He leads the NCAA in Home Runs this season with 28. That is just plain sick with these bats folks.
My point is that he wasn't a powerhouse out of HS. He was a good player but not a top 15 rounder and now look at him, he will be the 4th player picked this year, at worse.

But a player that is projected to go in the first round three months ago, continues to fall out the first two rounds, must have something that scouts aren't liking about him.
Sure, if he was projected to go in the 2nd round all along and remained there, I would say he is gone. But seeing him drop, this late in the year, right before the draft, makes me think he could make it to LSU and work his way into a 1st rounder.
Things are changing in college baseball and more players will make it to campus unlike before.
think about it...

Who would toss this kid out of slot money if scouts are seeing something in him that they don't like? His risk factor is beginning to rise thus lowering his negotiating abilities.

The money factor is way down with the new CBA. If he's drafted in 5th round even it's like a $300k slot or so.

I hope Justin Williams has people around him that are explaining that to him. 300K is nothing! He can play for LSU, get a free education, have 1,394 smoking hotties sweating on him, become a rockstar on campus, and turn 300K into $7 Million.

There is a huge difference between dropping from the first round to the second and dropping "off the map". How do we know it's going to take over slot money to sign him? Have you checked to see what slot is for where ever it is you think he will be picked?
Bryant dropped to the 18th round out of high school because of signability. He was definitely a top 15 round talent, although not nearly as high as he is today. I don't know what the draw to San Diego is but they got a first round pitcher on campus from the same draft.
