This makes the Jets QB competition slightly less interesting... Now it will be between:

Sanchize
McElroy
Geno
Matt Simms

Text from Garrard: "Having to call it quits. My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices. Limiting what I can do."

Geno's HOF career starts Week 1. He throws for 350 yards and 3 TD's, picking on Revis all day.

Sucks for him. He seemed like a good dude on that Dolphins hard knocks.

This news will be met with a resounding "David Garrard was still playing?"

I don't see any reason not to. Fill the place with new blood and start over.

Wait another athlete who is still dealing with knee problems even though he has been cleared by multiple team doctors...hmmmm...

Yes lets keep bashing one of the most athletic players in the world (Derrick Rose) because he doesn't think his knee is ready enough for him to come back.

does anyone else feel geno smith is a terrible fit for the jets' offense?... or, would any QB be a good fit for their offense?

I think no matter who they bring in, they're destined to fail

that definitely plays into my perception of it being a bad fit... IMO, Smith needs to be in a more open offense that utilizes more shotgun.

Regardless of what he learns this year, in all likelihood, he'll be learning something completely different next year.

Hell be in Gabberts shoes this time next year

New regime without many options, so they give him the season to see if he shakes out while looking for every other available option for the next year possible

IMO, he's got more game than Gabbert... but both are a product of Big12 defense straight up not giving a sh*t.
