I have two pair my self and luckily never had to test them out. I have however seen a guy get popped a couple times by a cotton mouth with nothing more than rubber boots and wasn't bitten.

It's a peace of mind that I have them and that my son also has a pair. That's enough for me.

I've almost stepped on a couple snakes and had a deer stand called "The Snake Hole", for GOOD reason.

Those would be good for briars also. As long as they are comfortable to walk in. Looks like just a good pair of work boots.

All the more reason to get a pair. I wear mine with shorts all summer down at our place, helps with the stickers too when walking through the brush like Nodust said.

Ive been wearing chippewa snake boots for yrs. mainly for walking in the woods while dark. Its very nerve wracking for me to be sweating and walking in the dark. Even with a flashlight i just know my next step will be on a snake.

If i didnt wear them i would not bow hunt in oct and nov

I got hit by a rattlesnake with snake boots on during bow season a few years ago. It was a glancing strike but it was a close enough call to solidify the fact that snake boots are a must in Natchez during bow season. I shot every arrow in my quiver to kill that bastard and went back to the camp to drink cold beer.

One reported so far.

How thick does leather need to be to ward off a snake bite?
