its been a long time ago but the plain fries were pretty good and the current fries are terrible at best. a couple of times on april fools day I ate at a popeyes and they had the old style fries and it reaffirmed my position that the old fries were good and the new fries are terrible.

Never had fries at Popeye's.

Red Beans and Dirty Rice for me. Sometimes Red Beans and Red Beans. Always with the biscuit.

Anyone else remember when the only side Popeyes had was the dirty rice (I don't even think they called it 'Cajun Rice' back then), and they'd fill up one of those trays they use for the two piece dinner, and just put the chicken on top of the rice, so that it would catch all the delicious chicken grease drippings?

yeah I just had some about 20 minutes ago. they are either greasy and old or hard enough to break a tooth on. I dont even know why they are called cajun, they taste like shite.

clearly the popeyes franchise you go to is the problem. the one on bluebonnet up here was hit or miss. But my hometown location in Algiers was absolute money. Fries were always hot and crispy.

Their fries only have 7 minute hold time. Then they are supposed to be tossed. Either they are letting them sit past that or their oil isn't up to temp or they aren't using correct frying times

never liked getting fries at popeyes.

used to love getting onion rings until they switched to frozen pre-battered rings.

now it's all about the red beans for me, sometimes mashed potatos

Incorrect. Popeye's is owned by AFC enterprises who acquired it in 1993. AFC also owned Churches but sold it in 2004. So Churches and Popeye's are competitors.

I only eat red beans. I have occasionally had the mashed taters, but that's it.

Have no idea what the fries taste like but they look like decent enough cajun fries to me.
