Titus Andronicus in Nashville 5/13

This is what happened tonight...
They played what I assume is a normal set. Opened with Fear and Loathing, followed by a mix of songs from The Monitor and Local Business, then closed their main set with A More Perfect Union/Titus Andronicus Forever.
Then Patrick Stickles spoke a little bit about how he was in a dark place a year ago. Gave props to the opening band (Diarrhea Planet), and mentioned how they played a B-side from a way early TA 7" last year, and then talked about back then he was thinking about taking his own life. And then he proclaimed that he chooses life, and he chooses rock n roll. And then Patrick Stickles took off his shirt, and Titus Andronicus performed a cover of I Love Rock n Roll/No Sleep Till Brooklyn, featuring the So So Glos. Followed by the Boys Are Back in Town, and Born to Run.
Amazing night. Although I hope Patrick wasn't serious though. That was pretty dark.

That's how they closed out NOLA... They were on a short time clock, so the show was shortened somewhat...
He wasnt in a dark mood at all at this show (quite the opposite), he took his shirt off and went out thrashing in the crowd... I havent been hit by rock sweat in over a decade...
If the music board has done one thing, its turned me on to this band... would have fit in with the 90s indie scene... and so refreshing to a lot of the indie non rock of today...

Exactly. Music is fun. Punk rock is ferocious and angry, but it's also funny and life-affirming. TA is one of the few bands from the past ten years or so who feel like they fit into that punk ethic. Pretty much them and the Hold Steady.

Cool. Love TA. Where was the show in Nashville?
How was Diarrhea Planet? Used to teach one of the guitarists

The Stone Fox. Actually a pretty little venue.
Dairrhea Planet was great! They've developed a pretty good following here. All extremely nice and funny guys too.

Titus Andronicus and Dr. Dog are the two greatest discoveries for me that came directly from this board. I need to listen to more Titus Andronicus but I'm still stuck on The Monitor.
