Granted it was the first person to come look at it, is that really the going rate?

Also anyone know a licensed arborist in the greater shreveport metroplex?

Thanks

Is it near a structure? What condition is the trunk in? These types of things can greatly change the liability and danger on the contractor's part.

Also, make sure he's quoting you a full price. If you don't make sure he quotes you to haul it off, you may be in for a surprise after it hits the ground.

Price did include hauling and clean up. It's in my backyard with a pool on one side and the house in the other.

A quote like that means they probably don't want to do it because its risky, difficult, or both.

Just what it means when I give a high quote on something.

Is there enough room for a crane to grab it a swing it out?

Honestly from the drive way, over the house to the pecan tree base is dead inline

Post this on the food & beverage board. I'm sure some of the meat smokers in your area will come take it down for free.

How big in diameter is the tree? Was the tree cutter using a crane? If he was, was he renting one or owns one? This might be a big part of the cost if he is renting a crane. Lanston can give you more info if he is around.

Talk to your homeowners insurance company about it yet?

They won't cover it, don't call and get a claim on your policy...

Got one close to 80' about 10 yds from house, been waiting on it to fall. It has failed me storm after storm. Had 3 tree get launched next to it during Gustav, it only lost some limbs.
