Granted it was the first person to come look at it, is that really the going rate?
Also anyone know a licensed arborist in the greater shreveport metroplex?
Thanks

What did that pecan tree do to you?

Is it near a structure? What condition is the trunk in? These types of things can greatly change the liability and danger on the contractor's part.
Also, make sure he's quoting you a full price. If you don't make sure he quotes you to haul it off, you may be in for a surprise after it hits the ground.

frick a pecan tree. I wouldn't have one within 100 feet of anything valuable.

Price did include hauling and clean up. It's in my backyard with a pool on one side and the house in the other.

A quote like that means they probably don't want to do it because its risky, difficult, or both.
Just what it means when I give a high quote on something.

I got ya, like I said it was the 1st quote, just a little shell shock at that number.

Is there enough room for a crane to grab it a swing it out?

Honestly from the drive way, over the house to the pecan tree base is dead inline

Post this on the food & beverage board. I'm sure some of the meat smokers in your area will come take it down for free.

Hah! I will be keeping some for cooking when I do get it done

How big in diameter is the tree? Was the tree cutter using a crane? If he was, was he renting one or owns one? This might be a big part of the cost if he is renting a crane. Lanston can give you more info if he is around.

Talk to your homeowners insurance company about it yet?

They won't cover it, don't call and get a claim on your policy...

Questions didn't get that deep which leads me to believe, now, that he just threw a number out bc he did t want to do it.

Got one close to 80' about 10 yds from house, been waiting on it to fall. It has failed me storm after storm. Had 3 tree get launched next to it during Gustav, it only lost some limbs.
