All I know at this point.

Will wait to see what more if anything can be squeezed out to have more opinion on the military side.

Had they left when the initial element left there is no guarantee that there would have been any different outcome. None. But honor would have been served. And that is critical to a member of the military.

But I will cede the point on a potential threat to the embassy at Tripoli.

Victory!

I believe the Generals have answered GOP questions on this and Petraeus was called in to answer questions at one point. I think the rescue part angle is a dead end but the GOP haven't let that stop them before.

I agree. The lack of a rescue attempt was certainly a mistake IMO, but I don't think they left those guys to die for political purposes. I believe it shows incompetence at all levels, not just politically but militarily. If the GOP really wants to go that route they better be damn sure they're right.

Three questions need to be answered.

1. What was the CIA doing in Benghazi?

2. Why wasn't there adequate security at the consulate? (possibly related to 1)

3. Why the revision of talking points and the insistence that a video was the cause of the attack?

Did gates ever mention where he would of lied to the family members of the slain by blameing the guy who made a video? I didn't see him cover that point!

Don't forget that Obama and Clinton appeared in ads in Pakistan apologizing to the Muslim world for the video.

reports that an unarmed drone was flying high above the embassy
Would have been in the wrong place, but even if the rumor was that it was above the consulate, it is still a rumor. Too bad it wasn't brought up during the hearings.

Actually it was!! Unarmed drones WERE over head

quote:

On Thursday, the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, asked the Obama administration for details of military options that might have been considered that night. It's all become controversial in light of the election. Two and a half hours after the attack began, an unarmed predator drone was diverted from a surveillance mission over another part of Libya to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. That, plus a second unarmed drone dispatched four hours and 15 minutes later, were the only U.S. military forces sent to the scene of the attack. Commandos were dispatched from Europe to an air field in Sigonella, Sicily, but by the time they got there the attack in Benghazi was over.

So? You think because another politician agrees with the blatant disregard for American lives that this administration harbors that it makes it ok?

frick him. And frick anybody that didn't immediately send help to those brave, desperate men at the very first sign of an attack.

They don't have a voice now and no politician's bull shite can ever change that.

Uhm, yeah, okay.

I would say I am one of the more balanced critics of what occurred. I am no fan of President Obama or his policies but he is still the POTUS.

So the amount of security that could be funded and provided had nothing to do with the security that was provided?

You continue to amaze us all with your faux logic. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps the slashed funds would mean they need to REallocate those funds to volatile regions? It's something called "priority based" something you should be aware of.
