Saw it the other night and WTF...this is closer to Tree of Life than it is to Primer. I actually liked Tree of Life mostly but this film is doesn't even measure up to Tree of Life. Some very weird shite goes on and it's pretty hard to make sense of what is happening. Yes it is intriguing but I don't think I have it in me to watch this again to figure out just what the hell this movie was about.

I really really want to see it

I enjoyed Primer and especially all the reading and videos I watched afterward to totally understand it

It's nothing like Primer. Primer had an understandable plot...this one really didn't. Maybe I should read up on it to understand it better but I think that is more of a sign that the film did not communicate well...I should not have to read a plot summary just to have a basic understanding of the movie I just watched.

I enjoyed both films. I used to check imdb about once a month for the past 8 or 9 years to see if carruth had anything new coming out. It looks like he enjoys the old malick model of filmmaking. Taking his sweet time in between productions.

been looking forward to this a long time, but recently read some Carruth interviews where he described the movie as a "jumping off point" for conversation after the credits roll.

Primer was that way too, but those conversations were mainly discussing continuity and un-packaging the dialogue, not the meaning of the film itself.

expectations lowered.

i think that the A Topiary script process, and then trying to finance it, really took its toll on the guy following Primer. too the point where he is doing everything independently, right down to distribution. gonna be slow rolling unless he finds a sugar daddy.
