Golf's 4 Major Championships.

The US Open
The Open Championship
The PGA Championship
Why isn't the Players championship a major. Can any golf know it all's answer that for me?

It's pretty much considered the 5th major, but it's probably mostly history that keeps it from being named as such. Plus, you don't want to take the prestige out of the majors by diluting them.

The Players is not deserving of being a major. Sawgrass is a bit gimmicky to be a course where you play the major at the same course every year. if they ever add a major it needs to be outside the US

Because it isn't the LPGA. I would rather take the PGA out of majors and only have 3.

Well I am sure there are courses that are used for the US Open that you can say the same thing about. But I do agree that they should have a split. Two majors in the US, and two over across the pond.

Right. I understood your point though. You just get all the advertisements about how this is the players championship blah blah blah, and it's not even a major tournament. I was just curious.

I think there is a certain symmetry to the 4 majors. creates more pressure for each one knowing there is only 4, but I think the money will be too good eventually to not add another

Screw Austrailie. ain't nobody got time for dat. if anything I could see the Middle East getting a major far before them. hell South Africa for that matter... I think we stay at 4 for at least 10 more years, maybe 20
