ya and that's sort of the choice that is available to older men and not older women. Do I date the emotionally stable but slightly less attractive 30-something, or the hot as hell but slightly more crazy 23 year old?

quote:

But not all women are attracted to much older men.
as a general rule, and it's somewhat genetic, a good majority of women ARE attracted to older men because they(on average) are capable and more willing to provide the things that women need

Mans age/2 + 7 = minimum woman's age.

One problem is she's going to want children. As much as I would like that, I would be a first time father at 40. So I'll be in my 60s and have kids in college.

I graduated college when my pops was 57.

My youngest brother just graduated, pops is 61.

quote:

When the last one graduates high school and leaves home, and we finally have the house to ourselves, I'll be close to Social Security age. That isn't fair to her.

Age is what you make it. My dad doesn't look a day older than 41 cause he didn't let a second go by unused. I'm telling you age has nothing to do with it. It's how you live your life, not the duration of it.

40-30 is a helluva lot different than 30-20.

re: Ideal relationships between men and women should have about 10 year age gap
I think some have gotten off track from what I'm saying. Yeah. It is likely arguable that on DAY 1, 32/22 is less ideal than 30/30.

BUT, over time, that shifts and in general, I'd argue that 42/32 > 42/42. And it only gets more pronounced from there.

Fact is, a man who takes care of himself at age 48 can often STILL find MANY 33 year old women who are interested in him. Meanwhile, in what I'd say is the case in the majority of cases, his 48 year old wife has LONG PAST being attractive to him. Even if he still loves her.

I know that's harsh, but it's sort of reality. My ex is my age and she was cute when I married her. Frankly, I wouldn't frick her with someone else's dick if I had the opportunity now.

Oh. And no, I didn't leave her for the current.

Completely agree.

I have 8 years on my wife (I just turned *gasp* 50 and she is 42) we have been together since she was 22 and that age difference put us in sync very nicely through the various twists and turns of life.

Yep. Sure, at 42, she doesn't look as good as when she was 22 but hell, you're FIFTY!

On another point in the thread, some expressed concerns about babies when the guys is older.

Well, I think those concerns aren't very valid and more a product of what people are "used to" in recent history.

Yeah, men fathering children at age 41 and 43(as I did) seems odd but hell, it was PERFECTLY NORMAL for men at age 33 to have babies 60 years ago and guess what, their life expectancy was notable shorter than mine or yours.

Now yeah, if you plan on letting yourself go to shit, don't have babies in your early 40s. But hell, I'm in better shape than 90% of the 30 year old men I know.

What about Asians? They don't age until they're 60?

In terms of attraction, maybe. If that's all that mattered in a relationship your claim would be valid. But it's not.

Men should probably marry women ten years their senior so maturity and intellect levels are more congruent.

Asians? MEH

A. The general probably still applies and

B. the Part about not aging is overblown. I was in Korea and they seemed to not age for a while and then go straight from OK to wrinkly monkey in the span of about two years.

I'm not worried about kicking off before I see my grandchildren. I expect to live into my 80s.

I'm in decent shape and plan to keep taking care of myself. But you still aren't going to beat the aging process. That's the main thing that would stop me from dating anyone significantly younger.

Maturity isn't really an issue anymore. A woman in her mid-20s might be more mature than men her age. But that difference no longer exists when people get to their late 30s/early 40s, so an available woman my age doesn't need a 45-50 year old man.

It's definitely good if you can make a 10-year age difference work. That just isn't for me.
