All conference semi series are currently at 1-1 after a first round that saw 6 series go to at least 6 games (3 first round upsets).

I find the NBA parroty. Team always copying each other's strategies.

Not really, there are some short lived surprises, but nothing I would call parity.

As a long time NBA fan, I think there could be. I'd have to say only about half the owners in the league actually give a shite about winning a championship year in, year out. Some go after one for few years, then start looking at the bottom line. Most of these guys do it as an ego thing, as this really is typically their second source of income, so to speak.
These guys have made billions at the actual professions. When you see ownership change hands of a franchise a lot, I doubt you see any real commitment to winning. Or some time shitty owners stay on forever and make the money regardless (see Sterling)

Before last year, 7 teams had won an NBA title in the last 28 years.

And only 3 teams had won the Western Conference in the last 13 years.

Historically, no.

I think this goes to show that any team can win a game. It's much tougher to win a 7 game series. The parity argument is stupid when it comes to comparing the NBA and the NFL. The playoff structures of the league go a long way in determining the perception of parity.

The NFL doesn't really have that much more parity than the NBA. If the NFL could afford to have seven game series in the playoffs you'd see a lot more one and two seeds winning. As it is teams like the steelers, ravens, patriots, colts with manning, giants, packers, are always good. Teams like browns, jaguars, chiefs, bills, lions, cardinals usually aren't.

Go through Stern's tenure and look at how many NBA Finals do not include a team from one of the top three TV markets, the Celtics, or a team led by LeBron James and get back to me.

But they're bad because of bad management. There is a level playing field. The Saints and Falcons were a joke for forever. And then they got a good owner and management and look where they are now.

In the NBA, the only way for a shitty team to get good is to get lucky in the lottery and hope you win it all before he signs with the Lakers.

Good poing. It seems like certain teams are always good while others struggle and are only good 2yrs out of 10.

Absolutely not. It's entertaining if you enjoy basketball.. but everyone knows the Heat are the lock of the century to win it all.
