There is probably no one more outspokenly pissed on tigerdroppings than myself about our track facilities. There are also very nice renderings from maybe the 2009 track media guide that had awesome renderings of the outdoor track adding another grandstand, and building a champions plaza next to the basketball practice facility. disappointing those renderings haven't resurfaced, they looked great.

Point being, the Pat Henry lovers who ridicule Shaver just don't understand how great of a job he's done. Texas A&M, Oregon, and Arkansas are a small step ahead of us right now because the schools have invested millions into the program, and it's paying dividends. Kids want to go to a school that wins championships AND show their full support for the sport. It's astounding we've won 31 titles and don't even have an indoor locker room.

and now they are upgrading the rec center. Worst one in the SEC yet still charges mandatory fees

I hope they are getting rid of the cows by the Box and intramural fields. Nothing like a Sunday wind with a nice smell of cow shite on the side.

It is actually not storm drain work on Nicholson, it is sewer force main. The city has expanded the Gardere area treatment plant and is closing the central plant on over road. That huge pipe is a force main which will carry shite from the old plant to the new one to be treated.

I just don't understand exactly what they are doing with construction across Nicholson from the New Box to add parking? Is that what they're doing? I park and tailgate across Nicholson for baseball because it's more spread out, plus there are trees and grassy area to hang out after parking your truck on concrete, not in mud like Hayfield. Any further detail on this would be appreciated. I havent been able to figure it out yet.

It's a big sewer project, they are closing down one of the treatment plants and diverting the sewer to the treatment plant on Gardere. It's the same project that's going on down all of Burbank.

They are planning on making Nicholson a 4 lane road from Burbank to Brightside soon, and will probably fix the drainage issues on Burbank during that project construction.

Great post.

I'll ignore all the comments from people bitching for a change.

I'd just like to say what an awesome job LSU has done in the last 10 years. Bringing in Bertman as AD and paying for great coaches has lead to some great teams for the Tigers in almost every sport. That lead to increased support for all athletics. Then bringing in Alleva to really take advantage of all the support through revenues. Through all that we've been able improve the infrastructure of both the athletic and student facilities.

I for one am very happy to see my Alma Mater improving and heading in the right direction. Geaux Tigers!

Thanks for the post!

New CEBA: times pi*R squared

Is that an aquarium? It certainly doesn't blend in with the current architectural style of the rest of the campus.

What were those egg heads thinking?

In regards to the revitalization of Huey Long pool is the foundation involved?

We were asked to look into it, but the foundation was not directly involved. The pool in such disrepair it’s extremely costly. Dr. Martin asked several persons in the university to look into that. The foundation hired grant writer who brought in $80 million for historical buildings. He asked the Chancellor to find a person to write a grant like that to qualify for funding.

They can build that goofy 'LSU' pool, but can't fix this glorious old facility that is crumbling before our eyes?

I was more talking about the drainage ditch alongside nicholson, not burbank. i sometimes tailgate over there and that ditch can get nasty.

Neither did the old CEBA. I'm okay with having a couple of modern looking buildings on the campus.

Not sure if they released them. They're gutting the whole thing. Installing a new mondo flat track. (Can't put a banked track bc the facility is a hurricane medical shelter). New locker rooms. New satellite training room facility. I'm sure it will be state of the art everything

One thing I hope they don't get rid of is any University ag land. Like the dairy. LSU is an ag college and I would hope they wouldn't throw that aside
