more like a 900 dollar mower people pay 1500 for because it is Green and yella.
John Deere makes some good stuff, but I had a low end one like at HD...I bought it a JD Dealer, and it is just like every other mower out there, but 50% higher for what you get.

First off, being one year old, how many hours are on it? If more then 60 running hours, the guy is BS you.
Next, I would test it out. Cut a small piece of grass. Do look under the belly and check the blades, pulleys and belts.
If any of that need replacing, down the price + labor charge as needed. Offer no more then $700 to start with.
