Superman: Unbound Review. Another great DC Comics animated flick.

I really enjoyed this movie and I thought it was very entertaining. It actually got the comic story that this movie was based on right. I thought Brainiac was an absolute monster in this movie and the depiction was pretty damn accurate. Superman actually got some very good clarity on his home of Earth and what he really fights for. I think Supes really understood that when he was telling Brainiac what's really around him and what surrounds him everyday of his life and how he embraces it.
Supergirl is also pretty good in this one, she kicks arse. Beware of a teenage girl with superpowers like her. She's a lot different from Kal-El because for one thing; unlike Kal-El, she knew and experienced Krypton intimately and grew up with her Kryptonian parents and has the values of her birth world instilled in her. She actually has great character development in this one. Also, technically, she's older than him.
All in all, very good addition to the Superman mythos and it's a great salad before Man of Steel in June which is going to be the main dish.
8/10
DC Comics is really hitting it out of the ballpark with their animated films. I hope it continues for a long, long time. I can only hope that Man of Steel could spark the same success as well with live action films.

IN
I am crossing my fingers that WB abandons the JL ideas, and goes with a World's Finest trilogy.

I'm looking forward to Flashpoint. Gonna be good. Source material is great.

I liked it. Very solid and surprisingly faithful to the comic. While I wish DC animated would do other faithful adaptations...they do seem to be getting better at it. I'll see how Justice League Flashpoint shakes out later this year.
This was a very good film. I liked the animation and also a sense of seriousness it brought to Brainiac without being over the top. Supergirl's portrayal was very good as well. They have finally really given Superman an edge without sacrificing what makes him who he is. Makes me even more pumped for the MOS.

just watched it..badass flick.
The only thing I was confused about. I thought brainiac was a kryptonion invention. In this movie, it implied it was from another planet. Am I just completely off-base with my memory of superman mythos?

This was the origin they used for Brainiac in Superman: The Animated Series. He was the central brain that managed and supervised all of Kryptonian society, until he turned against them.

I would actually like to see this version of Braniac done more in the comics and maybe live action movies. It's pretty damn interesting. I would twist it so that Brainiac was originally designed and built by Jor-El himself.
In STAS, he actually left Krypton to its death and that's pretty fricking cold to me.
BTW, I have a fanfic series recomendation to make to you, from one comic book fan to another.
It's a crossover series between marvel and DC Comics with Superman as the centerpiece and it's pretty well done, it's the best comic book fanfiction I've ever read, there's actually a pretty surprising twist regarding the circumstances about Krypton's death. Each chapter takes at least an hour to read.

just finished - definitely one of the best I've seen.
I'm not a comic reader at all, but I still enjoy most of these animation movies. I really liked the way the fight scenes really framed up the action as though I was actually flipping through the pages of a printed comic.
the one stupid thing that bugged me was that Lois' eyes were purple. And why, in a cartoon of all things, this got on my nerves I have no idea. But, even in a fictional roll of animation, purple eyes was un-nerving.
otherwise, a really great job

Thought it was really good. The artwork was lacking at time, but overall, I thought it was a damn good adaptation and a good representation of Brainiac.
On the note of DC animated movies, have you seen the Wonder Woman movie released in 2009?
I'm not much of a fan of Wonder Woman, but this movie was surprisingly good.

I highly doubt it.
I don't think Superman is a character that you can use to string together 3 good films.
