How are these guys billed as comedians?

Their sets are nothing more than therapy sessions.

Very long form. Titus does a lil better in delivering actual punchlines. JL relies on voices.

Neither are faves of mine.

I really like Christopher Titus. But he's more British style standup than American, as he conceives of one whole coherent act, as if its a one man play. His work is all themed, like Eddie Izzard. American standup is more off the cuff, or designed to seem that way.

Exactly, both feel like a one man play/show.

Don't know if I'd compare to Izzard. Of what I've seen of him he's similar to Carlin whose themed bits are 5-10 min each. Well constructed etc. unless that's what u meant. Kind of the anti Stephen wright/Hedberg one liner comic.

It certainly feels like carlin and Izzard have material as JL and CT just seem like controlled venting/self therapy. Both seem adept at creating characters out of their family and friends. Which is more typical one man show stuff.

I liken Titus to like Pink Floyd or someone similar. I have to be in a mood for it.

Edit: that said, I watched his sitcom back in the day and enjoyed it.

Leguizamo's "Freak" was brilliant.
