Would make for an awesome Merseyside Derby.

No kidding.
Can't wait to see how we'll do under Moyes. It's that perfect mix of excited and nervous that comes with getting a new coach.

So SAF out, Mourinho back to the Prem, Pep to Bayern, Ancelotti to Madrid? What an offseason it will be.

Just saw a Spanish language Goal article which commented on Fergie having had dinner in Paris recently with Ancelotti, during which he offered the job to the Italian.
Ancelotti politely declined, supposedly because he was confident that he´d get the call from Real Madrid.
Hmmmh.

Both of those articles are kinda sketchy to me, but I have no way of knowing if it's true or false.
Moyes sounded like SAF's #1, unanimous, hand-picked choice from everything I've read.
And Goal.com is Bleacher Report-quality writing with paid writers. Lots of rumors and nonsense to drive up traffic.

I think we all know that article is bullshite.

Spanish posters mention how it´s (the article) part of the Real Madrid propaganda machine, with the express intent of further isolating the translator (yeah, Moyes is the chosen one, but even then, Fergie was courting Ancelotti, possibly just in case. Nevertheless, the point is that he never seriously thought of Mourinho, in spite of Mourinho having ´lobbied´ for the position).

Is that even necessary at this point? Mourinho is trying to be fired, in order to collect his checks, before joining Chelsea.
But he won't; Florentino will ride it out as long as he can. I just don't see him accepting defeat at this point, he's in too deep.

Flo´s in a quandary.
The Real Madrid marketing machine is going to have to work overtime to sell the faithful on Ancelotti, and even then, it sounds as if the Italian will at best start with a divided fan base (much like Mourinho did).
He also won´t swallow his pride and hire Pellegrini.

Pretty crazy that the biggest clubs in England, Spain, and Germany are changing managers in the offseason. As well as the richest club in France.

This is the most surprising thing about this whole process (which has been verified by United sources).
Everyone thought Mou was trying to get himself the job during the Round of 16, and when the time comes...nothing. I know he's been in lots of talks with Chelsea, but nothing between him and United since the first rumors of SAF retiring came out Tuesday.

ManU´s ownership doesn´t want any exposure to strife, turmoil, and above all, the likely concurrent fluctuation in the club´s share value.
A hypothetical simile, just for you my dear ManU friend.
Let´s just suppose England has won back to back Euros and a WC, with Rooney as the star and captain. Rooney is also considered by most to be the world´s greatest striker.
Mourinho benches him, buys another and plays him.
All the while, the club sits in second place, desperately far from the frontrunner, and is playing a game far removed from that which the ManU faithful are accustomed to, and expect.
Nevermind the outrage in England, just imagine what the stock price of the club would be doing!

"@FootballFunnys: Apparently Moyes' appointment as Man United manager was briefly delayed while they explained to him what having a transfer budget was."

good. overated anyway. just exepensive players to make up his time as a "winner". Just like coaching the yankees.
