Other than Cam Rob, who else are we recruiting at OT?
Posted on 5/7/13 at 7:03 pm to Websterw331
We already have 2 OL committed
Clapp
Brumfield

I thought they were both OGs?

Looks pretty slim there behind Cam Rob to be honest. We were looking at some guys earlier like Bentley Spain and Andy Bauer who have since gone in different directions. Maybe Koda Martin?
If Brumfield or Clapp keep growing they both have the feet to play tackle. Those two are both versatile and could play almost anywhere. But as far as a true, prototypical tackle...CRob or bust??

They are but could also play OT if needed. I've been wondering this question too. We have the depth so it's not a absolute need, but I always think it's good to get at least 2 OT's in each class

I really hope we land Cam

They are but with us signing
Pocic 6'7 FR (Although he will be moved around a lot)
Having
Evan Washington 6'6 JR
Fehoko 6'6 JR
La'el Collins 6'5 JR
Jonah Austin 6'6 SO
Vadal 6'6 SO
Derek Edinburgh 6'8 FR
Jerald Hawkins 6'6 FR
Have a lot of depth and some of those guys do not play OT but can if needed. Not a huge need if we get Cam Robinson.
Do not know how close we are with Roderick Taylor or Koda Martin? But those are two that would be left to take on the O-Line.
Bottom line is that our O-Line while fairly experienced is very young and there are just other areas of need. I do not think anybody would complain if all we got was Robinson, Clapp, and Brumfield.

Complain? I'd be ecstatic if we sign those 3 to pair up with Pocic, Dodd, Boutte, and Malone last year. Two down one to go...

Take this for what it is, don't think too much into it, but I think the situation at OT is alot like the situation at safety with Landon Collins a couple years ago. We have a huge blue chipper in state at the position so it's all in for that guy.
Now Landon Collins led the staff on, I don't think Cam is doing that. I think he has a good head on his shoulders and he is just weighing his options. As a top notch lineman from the southeast, how could you not at least give bama a look?
It's only may, and the kid has been to LSU enough to know what there is for him there, so he's checking out the other guys to make sure he's making the best decision for him.
I think the WM pipeline, the closeness to home, momma, and his "family" relationship with the coaches and university win out over the lure of everything Bama has to offer big Cam
But, if we have a Landon Collins situation where he goes elsewhere, I'm sure the staff has a Corey Thompson type of guy on the board. They have a plan I can assure you

3 guys the staff is very high on are jamarco jones,(sp?) corey martinez, and alex bars, who all have interest in lsu and are all takes....keep an eye out for them. especially jamarco jones
Posted on 5/7/13 at 8:10 pm to nolatrain504
I thought Martinez was interior?
Also, Jones doesn't have LSU in his top 4 and he is selecting at the end of next month. Do you know something?
As far as Bars, I know LSU went hard after his brother Blake but he ended up at Michigan. He could follow his brother there.

You know something we don't know about Jamarco Jones? All three of those guys are takes, yeah, but at this point other teams are way out in front. Bars is all but settled on ND or Michigan.

We are only recruiting Cam Robinson at OT right now (in terms of a spot open). We are sitting pretty as it is for OL honestly. Definitely need help at OC which they believe one of the 2 interior 2014 OL could step up there and hopefully Malone from 2013. We took 5 OL last class though, so if we sign 3 including Cam Robinson this class that would be perfectly acceptable.
For 2013 we are looking at...
OC JR. Porter
OC FR. Malone
OG SR. Williford
OG JR. Fanaika
OG SO. Turner
OG FR. Dodd
OG FR. Boutte
OG/OT JR. Washington
OG/OT SO. Austin
OT JR. Collins
OT SO. Alexander
OT rFR. Hawkins
OT rFR. Edinburgh
OT FR. Pocic

Roderick Taylor, Alex bars and Bentley spain
Posted on 5/7/13 at 10:03 pm to Reda LSU
You think Spain makes it away from the Carolina's?
Posted on 5/7/13 at 10:06 pm to jembeurt
Nope, I don't think we get Spain or bars but we have a slight slight chance with taylor

Either the staff feels pretty good in gaining a commitment from Cam Rob or else they are delusional IMO. We have to recruit (and land) at least one stud OT every year and really should have two.

as has bee stated, brumfield or clapp could play right tackle, hawkins could be set for lt.
