Pretty sure it's a well known joke so the MM/shirt storyline was a little funny jab at the fans

I thought the neckbone kid was fricking awesome. Kid had the wisdom of an old man and the mouth of a sailor st the age of 14.

definitely the best movie to come out in theaters in a while. It had an authentic southern feel.

Just wanted to bump this and tell you guys thank you for convincing me to go see this movie. Best movie I've seen in a while. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it and probably would've overlooked it if it hadn't been for this thread.

I'm so disappointed because I saw this thread yesterday and was planning on going to see it today but it's not showing anywhere in Baton Rouge When I looked yesterday it was still showing at 3 differernt places at multiple times. I hate coming in on a good movie at the end of it's run.

Mud was great! This film should be a lock for multiple Academy Award nominations.

Late to the party but I just saw it and loved it. Easily the best this year, so far anyway.

It was a pretty ironic part of the plot.

Not sure I get what either of you two are talking about. Can someone explain?

Went and saw the movie last night finally after these threads on this board

I definitely liked it and it had some good music and great lines, especially by Neckbone. It's not Stand By Me good, but it was still great and I can imagine seeing this at the age I saw SBM and loving it even more.

Bump to thank the crowd for bringing this recommendation to the MTV Board.

Just to reiterate what everyone has said, this movie is fvcking awesome. Every part of it seemed so authentic and real (especially for those of us who grew up in similar areas).

Absolutely loved the Ellis kid, stole every damn scene he was in. I don't know if a kid of his age has ever won any major awards, but I'd give that kid anything he was nominated for; he was insane.

As others have said, McConaughey has turned into a pretty badass actor. He was Mud through and through in this movie, damn well done.

The supporting actors in this movie were awesome as well. The Neckbone kid was hysterical and reminded me of my buddy's growing up. If I had one minor complaint it would be I thought they could have done more with Shannon. I kept wondering how he'd figure in, but they didn't do as much with him as they could have.

Very minor complaint though. Easily the best movie of the year so far IMO.

I wish the villains didnt suck so much cock. Crazy how they put so much effort into developing all the other characters and made the bad guys cardboard stereotypes

Matthew McConaughey is well know for taking his shirt off in every movie. So much so that he is even made fun of by other actors.

It's become a running joke in his movies now, hence why I think the shirt angle in this movie was intentional and brought a little brevity to those fans who saw the movie because "Matthew McConaughey was in it"

I agree, but I think it's difficult to make really layered, developed mercenary villains in this type of film. There's not enough scenes for us to really learn much about then and to be honest they serve next to zero point in the overall film.
