re: Thermo final grade....Advice is needed

I have several years of experience in my field and have been working since high school. My bosses think I'm some kind of prodigy, and can't understand why I say classes are hell. When I talk to the people who are actually doing really well in ChE about industry it's like I'm teaching them latin.

Yea, I guess being thrown offshore and expecting not to look like a lost puppy is a little much. Just figured some would do a little research to have some sort of idea what they would be doing beforehand.

Most of these frickers are researchers hired to bring in money to university, not teach. I said frick it a along time ago and came to the conclusion I would be teaching myself.
I was going to post this with less colorful language. I was told this recently when I asked a professor why so many of my professors are incompetent. My Diff EQ professor literally transcribed the book page by page on the chalk board last summer without pausing to explain anything or answer any questions. I was wondering why LSU didn't just pay a 15 year old kid to do the same instead of hiring this guy. He told me most professors are hired because of their research capabilities.

Pathetic, really.

That said, I am pretty satisfied with the IE professors. They have had plenty of real-world experience and bring a lot to the table in terms of conveying the material and real life applications to us. I think I'll stick with my major

re: Thermo final grade....Advice is needed
The math department is the worst I have seen at LSU for hiring unqualified kids to "teach"

Well my Calc II professor was awful as well. We would have to correct her at the board half of the time because she made mistakes left and right. And we coudln't even use a calculator on the exams

I tested straight into Calc II, so I only had to take two math classes. Both professors were godawful, but both were not young.

Haha, no?

Name is Michael Tom. I had him for the linear algebra portion of 2090.

I had Davidson for the Diff EQ portion and really liked him. He has a dry sense of humor and actually teaches

You expected to?

I have had nothing but student teachers so far.

Seems to happen across the board.. even in more useless majors that aren't supposed to be hard.

Just a simple calculator to make small calculations

Shoot, I knew people in other sections who could use open notes, graphing calculators, even one section who could...wait for it...use WOLFRAM ALPHA.

WTF?

re: Thermo final grade....Advice is needed
You're telling me.

After a year and a half in finance, I switched to ME right before classes started, so I scrambled to get into classes. Got stuck in the worst sections, and because I had tested out of Calc I and didn't really have time to spare, I decided to go straight to Calc II after not taking math for almost 2 years. Then I find out that I get no breaks compared to other sections. I had that, along with a young idiot girl teaching Chem 1201 at 7:30 AM, physics, CM 1020 (which I actually loved) and AGRI (thank God!) That was a stressful semester
