If there's one thing I've learned about baseball from the little leagues to the pros...

You never argue balls and strikes.

These were two videos of players arguing balls and strikes, therefore I have no sympathy for them.

Harper didn't argue balls and strikes.

Really? What did he argue? Pretty sure that he argued that his strike (where he allegedly swung the bat) was in fact a ball.

No we aren't. There's plenty of technology out there that could allow for most calls to be made electronically in baseball. MLB doesn't even use replay to its full extent.
Yep, MLB is always years behind the trends & thus have only gotten a mere taste of replay since its 2008 debut. But replay did happen in some form even after years & years of people saying it never would. And yes, even if it does take another 15, 50, 100 years, eventually MLB will finally remove the error that are umpires from the game.

Umpires should be suspended and their decisions should have a independent public governing body. They also should not call balls and strikes. Pitch f/X for the win.

And if the ump had simply tossed him I would say that while it seems like a short fuse whatever or Harper must had used some bad language.

When umps feel the need to put on a big show to make a call I think th league should think stepping in.

While I respect Hirschbeck for the personal trials he has overcome (beat cancer himself, and had a son pass away), today was completely unacceptable.

Pretty sure if you watch the video he told Bryce to "get his back in there" or something to that extent. Incredibly frustrating when these guys bait players.

I don't see anything wrong with what happened today. Harper acted like a bitch.

MLB doesn't hold their umpires to high standards no matter how much they try and say otherwise. these guys are making well into six figures a year and should be held accountable if they consistently mess up. the biggest issue here is ego. in this particular case that umpire knew he had made the wrong call and that is why he reacted the way he did to try and cover up his mistake.

imagine if the tables were turned and Harper had threw his hands up and charged towards the umpire? MLB would fine him thousands and suspend him. people pay money to watch the players. not to watch little dick umpires like this one on an ego trip due to their short man syndrome.

Wrong call? You can't tell if he swung or not from that angle. They showed a side view on ESPN and it looked pretty close.

The pitch was a strike anyways.

borderline at best. regardless if he was 100% confident in his call, he wouldn't have reacted like a maniac the moment he got questioned on it. the fact that he acted the way he did shows that he wasn't confident in his decision and that's why his ego / "make up for my 3 inch penis" mode kicked in.

What happened there? Did the Phillies forfeit or did they have to play man down?
