Collections notice after never receiving a bill

I received a collections notice for a hospital visit almost a year ago. The problem I have with it is that I never received a bill.
Is there any way to "fix" this so that my credit is not jacked up? I am going to pay the bill tomorrow.

was it for the deductible and/or coinsurance or full charges from the hospital?

It is the balance left after insurance paid their portion.
