I think it was about 7:00 pm. I worked until close to 5:00 pm and then set up and cooked, so maybe 6:30 or 7:00.

I know we sat at the table and talked until about 8:00 or later.

I'm never not humgry for steak and taters. Sadly, we don't do red meat more often than once a week or so.

Not complaining. I am a lucky man - fortunate beyond my belief.

We do steak maybe 1 time a month. I will get a burger about twice a month without the wifey. We are big salad folk. I have a nice basil strawberry balsamic dressing in the fridge right now. Need to make some salad tomorrow night. I love to add a touch of sesame oil to my dressings. Just a hint.

we do lots of salad, too.

Caesar is my favorite, but not eaxctly the most calorie friendly.

Hadn't had a simple wedge of iceberg with Thousand Island is a while and it was nice. Back in the 40 and 50 this (wedge with thousand island or french or italian ) was fancy salad.

Believe it or not, I can remember when there was no such thing as ranch at least not anywhere i dined.

W ehad a time that we ate a lot of catalina. Haven't had any in years and years. It was sweet and thick and good if I remember correctly. Never was much of a french kind of salad guy.

My pops was a big Catalina and French and 1000 Island guy. I never ate many dressings until I started making my own. My Cilantro Lime "vinaigrette" with avocado instead of oil is one of my favs. I abhor Ranch or Blue Cheese.

I refuse to call a wedgie a salad. Your SO was right with her terminology.

Nice meal! Thanks for sharing the Thousand Island Dressing recipe. I've been playing around with some different ones and will give this a shot.

My all time favorite Thousand was Steak and Ale's salad bar Thousand Island. I'm not sure there are any of that chain's restaurants still open. They made it from scratch and it was thick, creamy and rich. This one is very similar.

The wife tells me the original Better Homes and Garden Cookbook recipe calls for chili sauce instead of ketchup. Chili sauce (sort of like coctail sauce) is not something we ever buy, if they still sell it at all. As I recall it was very similar to coctail sauce, but I could be wrong.

We usually have some chili sauce. Maybe I'll make some dressing.

The wife uses ketchup in her recipe and not chili sauce. Im not sure I have ever had it made with chili sauce.

Maybe you can do it both ways and let us know, so we will all know what works best. I do know that it is very good made with ketchup
