I was thinking about catching this over the weekend. Looks pretty solid and based on a true story. I'm a fan of Michael Shannon.

It will be interesting to see how gruesome they will get with his murders because he wasn't always the "walk in the door and shoot them in the head" killer. The book, albeit poorly grammatically written, was very well done.
Was reading the Wiki page about Kuklinski and he talks about one of his most sadistic murders. I remembered this part in the preview for the movie:

quote:
"It was a man and he was begging, and pleading, and praying, I guess. And he was, 'Please, God, no,' all over the place. So I told him he could have a half an hour to pray to God and if God could come down and change the circumstances, He'd have that time. But God never showed up and he never changed the circumstances and that was that. It wasn't too nice. That's one thing, I shouldn't have done that one. I shouldn't have done it that way."

i remember seeing the HBO special on him years ago. It was scary as hell just listening to him talk about killing people.

I guess when you're paid to do it and have done it so much, it just becomes second nature to them. Had to be weird for his wife and family to finally learn what he did when he left for "work" each day

I've read a bit on him, and he likely killed some people, but a lot of what he said was apparently bullshite.

Watching the interview that HBO showed on him some years ago, it is pretty obvious that he definitely lies and talks himself up. There are a lot of inconsistencies with what he says, particularly that the number of people he claims to have killed fluctuates wildly.
He's still a fricking pyschopath. He's still killed plenty of people. And he's still scray as shite. Isn't compulsive lying one of the symptoms of pyschopathy? He probably believes his own lies.

Met the director last weekend. I'm going to check it out.

It's odd that I haven't seen one trailer on TV for this also.

His wiki page indicates that he took credit for mob hits other guys did, and maybe wasn't quite as connected as he wanted people to think.

He was mostly full of shite. He killed a few people for the mob as a low level hitman, however he highly exaggerated his story and reveled in the attention he got. He was a pathological liar and could never get his own story straight.

I worked as an extra on this movie in the scene where he takes his family out to eat at a nice restaurant. Scene was filmed at Village Grille in Shreveport.
Shannon stayed in character the whole shoot. Never saw him crack a smile. Hell of an actor.

I just checked and it's not playing in Lake Charles anytime soon. Gonna have to download it I suppose. I found the book to be pretty fascinating.
