We have a 16' riveted aluminum jon boat and want to get the leaks fixed so we can have another boat at the camp. Y'all know of any places that do this?

Just slap some jb weld on it.

Not sure which rivets are leaking.

Um, put it in the water

There are hundreds of rivets and some are hidden by the cross bars, seats, storage, etc. But thanks for the smart arse suggestion. I'll find somewhere who does this.

Just a wild guess, but the ones below the waterline are gonna be the ones that leak.

So you really don't have any advice?

You can either hammer them or have them welded...

Yeah, look for where water is when you put it in. Leave it in for a day or two with some weight in the boat. That spot needs to be fixed, JB Welded, caulked, etc.

Take some flex seal and apply a few coats along all the rivet lines on the outside and inside as best you can.

I had a similar issue, I wire wheeled all the rivets with an electric grinder. Then heavily flex sealed all the rivets, then rolled bed liner on the entire bottom. The boat no longer leaks

Can you translate that into regular person English?

Not sure if serious
Are you one of those forest gump types, what I wrote is pretty damn clear to understand. The pics also illustrate exactly what to do.

Don't know what wire wheeling is. Or flex sealing. Oh well. I'll figure it out. Thanks for the advice.

Wire wheel=think wire brush attached to a grinder. The first picture is that process
Flex seal=one of the most famous outdoor board products. They have infomercials every 5 minutes on TV, google it. That is the process taking place in the second pic.
Roll on bed liner=they sell it at auto zone. Roll it on the entire bottom with a paint roller. Third pic final product

Perfect. Thanks a bunch. Huge help. I'll get started this weekend.

If any of the rivets are really bad use JB weld after you wire wheel it clean. I had a hole about the size of a pencil eraser and it worked really well

Somewhere that welds aluminum. Have them weld over all the rivets.

If you have a gun get rid of it. You might need to also sell the boat unless you have someone else operating it.
line X the bottom
Fill the boat with water leave the plug in it
