I plan on using it mostly for recreation but will definitely do some fishing in it. Don't need anything huge. Will probably be in the lake and in bayous most of the time. Sit in or sit on? Would like to spend less than $500. Any other tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

More expensive, but can use in any situation, salt or fresh. Pretty cool customizations as well. Good luck

Get a dirt cheap Pelican from craigslist or local and then spend money on a better one if you become addicted.

Maybe post what you have found so far for what price and they can give you some feedback on potential purchases. I know nothing about them but quite a few people on the board are in love with them.

Ascend FS12T at BPS for $499 or Perception Pescador 12 at Academy for $499. One of those or buy used for cheap. I ended up waiting and landing a WS Commander for a smoking deal. I speak from asking the same question on the OB many times.
