I miss the old 9:30 Club. I mean, times change and all, but that place had personality. It also smelled like sweat and dried blood... nothing is perfect. The old 9:30 Club as the kind of place you felt like you needed a tetanus shot just by walking past it.

Wow, my oldest brother makes this exact argument. Like nearly word for word.

At rapping? Maybe. Overall musical prowess? No way.

Is that why Big Boi has put out two extremely creative and thoroughly awesome solo albums while Andre 3000 has been busy filming Gillette commercials?

Oh, let me guess, you haven't heard Big Boi's solo albums? Great, your analysis is appreciated as always.

My bro went to the opening night of the old 930 club. Smashing Pumpkins played. He talks about it all the time.

Sounds like State Palace back in the day. Was just awesomely disgusting.

The jungle room was great. Really small room watching the best Dnb djs in the world. The sound was amazing in that little room

1. Jay-Z is an average rapper

2. Big Boi is more talented than Andre 3000

1. Jay-Z's beats are so damn catchy and fantastic, but I agree. In terms of rapping, lyrically and flow wise, he is pretty average.

2. Oh hell no. But I respect the opinion.

If you'd bang Beyonce before Kelly Rowland, the joke is on you. One of them makes me think: "Oh, she's very attractive.". The other one makes it move. And that, my friend, is the end of the analysis.

The reason the 930 club is so great is because of how small it is.
There are numerous small venues with great acoustics all around the world. What makes 930 club better than every other music venue in the world? Don't get me wrong, I love going to intimate shows as well. A large percentage of the concerts I see are in small venues, but the popular acts play larger venues. Also, for me, the atmosphere of the show makes for a better experience.

The Venue Ratio:
quality of acts / size of venue = quality of venue

The higher the ratio, the better the venue. I don't know of a venue with a higher venue ratio than 930 club.

Not all music is best in really small venues. Its cool but sometimes it's better to jam with 1000 people

It feels small when you're in there. The other venue in the area that is closest in size to 930 club is the Fillmore, which has a capacity of 2,000.

But the difference in sound is night and day. At 930 club you feel the music.
