We were passing down Sherwood this morning think about a brunch spot, we were scruffy dressed because of some wet yard work we had been doing. I saw Podnuh's and suggested the buffet, " some people on the food board said it had a new owner and was improved." We had sworn off this place a long time ago after bad experiences.

BBQ places are frequently a little shabby so the appearance didn't put us off to much, so we stepped up and ordered 2 buffets. The only meats were slices of sausage, chicken quarters and chopped pork. What I want to know is how the chicken got so dry it was inedible when we walked in 20 minutes after opening.

The sausage was grocery store bland crap, the chopped pork had no flavor, it had a few pieces with bark, but nothing. The sides, except for the beans could have come out of any school cafeteria in town.

The place was dirty and loud music made it worse, it wasn't even loud country music. If you can enjoy a meal in this place you live in a dump and you have no standards.

Podnuhs used to be good but the quality seems to have gone down over the years.

I used to love podnuhs when I was in college but I will rarely eat there these days.

You would have done better to eat a booger.

Podnuh's is horrible. Jay's on Sherwood isn't much better.

You should have driven down Florida and gone to Sonny's. I have been really impressed on my visits there, especially w/ their dry rub ribs. I get the AYCE ribs w/ 2 sides and Texas toast for $13.99. I also love their old school salad bar. I throw in a sweet ice tea and eat like a greedy hog for $20.

Still, my vote for best bbq in the area is Firehouse in Denham. Their brisket is succulent, juicy, and has a great bark.

You're apt to get yesterday's chicken and whatnot a lot of BBQ joints I've noticed.

Not what it used to be. If you're in BR, you need to try bushwood BBQ on Perkins next to the bulldog. Real good pulled pork.

Simply put, Baton Rouge is not a BBQ town.

Podnuh's in Shreveport/Bossier is pretty good. They have a great BBQ sauce. I also love their sliced ham.

if the owner would have taken his head out of his arse before deciding on a location, we would probably still have suckers

Flip, where is this Firehouse BBQ in Denham you talk about? I live here and haven't heard of this place.

I'm not sure he could have picked a worse location unless he would have put it on the moon.

My company would purchase a 5 to 7 spread from Podnuh's at least once a week for a couple of years when Bryan was running the joint...Good BBQ and tasty sides. After he left, it kept getting crappier & crappier so we quit going.

I don't know if the Podnuh's on Bluebonnett & Perkins is still open. We only tried it once and that will go down as one of our worst lunches ever.

I googled it and I think it's the one on Hwy 16 close to Watson, on the left near the Dollar General. If it's that one, it's close to the new Walmart and where Hwy 16 intersects with Hwy 1024. They have a big BBQ sign out, but I think maybe only a small sign that says Firehouse BBQ? I pass it all the time on the way to visit friends but I've never stopped there.
