Got a new comp and have TR. Went to the option to check performance in game, or ran the scene and said my fps average was 60. Is this good? Have no clue.

60 FPS is good enough to keep a steady smooth experience if it holds up the whole way through.

What is a really good FPS and what's the lowest acceptable for newer games?

Ideally you want to maintain 30 or more consistently. Any drop beyond that will eventually become noticeable (choppy). If your machine holds 60 or more consistently you'll have smooth gameplay throughout. You may notice a drop in performance during scenes where a lot of dynamic events are occurring simultaneously, but if you have a powerful build, it should be relatively smooth.

You can also tweak graphic details and filtering to improve your FPS.

I mean again, it depends on your other settings.

If you're playing a game on low settings and you're getting 60 FPS, that's not necessarily good.

If you're playing the same game on high settings and you're getting 60 FPS, that's considered good, depends on the game.

But, there is something called vertical sync which attunes your FPS to your monitor's refresh rate. So if you have a 60 hz monitor, you will get 60 FPS max. I never recommend enabling this because it will cause a lag between your mouse and keyboard commands and what happens on the screen.

Some games also enable you to have a FPS cap, so if you set the cap at 60, you will never go over it.

More than likely your game is set to capped since you are getting 60 on the dot. 60 is a great framerate for a game as new as tomb raider.

Don't get so caught up in FPS. Beyond a certain point it the differences become less and less noticeable. The important thing is that you're having a good gameplay experience (not choppy).
