i dont know how la is.. but to get your cc in mississippi.

1. print off form from internet
2. fill out form "attach picture"
3. On a tuesday or wednesday go to hwy patrol place and get fingerprinted, then go to the drivers license place with your $132.
4. wait 45 days... EXACTLY 45 days, your license will be in the mail.

pretty dam easy, dont have to take a class or nothing. only class is if you want the enhanced carry.

Mississippi is pretty damn easy to get a concealed carry permit, I would check to see which state has reciprocity with the most other states, I think mississippi has like 26 other states that your permit will be valid in

When I went for mine it took 2.5 hours, I also got to the hwp 30 minutes before it opened. So, it is or at least it was an all day affair.

I would get enhanced carry in MS. It gives you much more freedom than the standard one in MS, and gives you more freedom than the only permit you can get in LA.

in mississipppi? really? i hadn heard this

AR does the same thing. If you train w/ a revolver, you're certified only to cc a revolver; if you train w/ a semi-auto, you're certified to carry semi-auto as well as revolver.

Yep. It's a different type of license than a bar because more than 50% of their income comes from food, not alcohol. Restaurants are good to go. Bars are a no go for CC.

I don't have a permit (yet) but I understood it to mean, bars are a no-go no matter what, and you weren't allowed at the bar itself or in a designated bar area, which many restaurants were designed with to distinguish a smoking area from non-smoking.

It is a question I intend to directly ask my instructor, whomever that may be.

So CC permit folks are arguing oabout if it is OK to cc in a place that has a no firearm sign.

Yall did take the CC class right? Wouldn't that be something they would teach right off the top?

I did not take the class so I do not know

Spcl but they said if you train with revolver that is all you can carry

Lies

ETA: Sorry, this is for LA only. Ignore if you're not in LA. I'm on mobile and can't see people's location without clicking their name. That sucks though.

quote:

I was told in my class yesterday that if the restaurant sells alcohol, you are not allowed to carry. But he said that would be changing with the new bill.

And more lies. E-mail Gordon Hutchinson. He will tell you. I just went through his class and he explained all this. I specifically asked him about the first quote because someone told me the same thing. This is the email
I received from him
quote:

There are more stupid statements made about this program than anything I have ever been associated with. No. You can qualify with a .22 and carry a .44. The state does NOT care what you qualify with, or what you carry—as long as it is a handgun. Tell whoever told you that to check his facts and read up on the law at www.lsp.org/handguns.html. He does not have any idea from whence he speaks. I know some instructors make their students take the course with what they consider proper caliber for self-defense. This may be what they are referring to, but that is an instructor choice. I limit you only to not shooting single-action revolvers and not shooting centerfire magnum cartridges. The first is too slow to load, the second is too noisy in the range. Other than that, we let people shoot pretty much what they want. IF they have a problem with their own guns, I have plenty of loaners.

A restaurant is granted a class B permit because less than 51% of their profit comes from alcohol.

Restaurants usually have a Class A-Restaurant (as opposed to Class A-General) permit.

Gordon is correct about carry in restaurants that serve alcohol. The newspapers are trying to dramatize HB48, without reading it.

HB48 seeks to amend RS14:95.5

Concealed carry is regulated under RS40:1379.3, which states, among other things, that you can't carry in "Any portion of the permitted area of an establishment that has been granted a Class A-General retail permit, as defined in Part II of Chapter 1 or Part II of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises."

As I said in an earlier post, and as I tell every class that I teach, it's legal to carry in restaurants that serve alcohol, but not in the "lounge" portion of those restaurants. It's also illegal to carry in "honky tonks."

The law is pretty clear on this.

But, since you just read my opinion on an interwebz forum, you should probably ignore it.

Yeah, I knew it was something different than the regular alcohol permit, just couldn't remember exactly what it was called. That's why I put B lol. Yours is probably correct.

I'm not good at legal speak and reading laws. What exactly are they trying to do? I haven't heard or read much about it.
