I'm staying in Lafayette this weekend for Festival and had a blast Friday night. I'm headed back tonight and I'll need to pay more attention as to whom the various vendors are because I had some good grub last night, which included an Italian cucumber and tomato salad, fried gator, shrimp poboy, shrimp and grits, but my favorites were the BBQ ribs and this incredible crawfish maque choux, all washed down by Goose Island IPA. Each tapas sized portion runs about $5-$7, and it's simply a fun place to graze.

I'll report back after tonight's binge.

If you have an iPhone, there's a festival international app with all of the vendors on it.

Hey, where'd you get the Crawfish Maque Choux?

I'll find out tonight, as I plan to revisit that dish. Thanks for the app recommendation.

Using the app, I'm seeing that it was probably Antlers in the Popeyes Pavillion. We'll find out tonight if anyone dethrones this dish as my favorite.

Gumbo and jambalaya dishes are abound, so if anyone has a suggestion as to which one to try, please post.

Two days down and the standings are as follows:

Best overall dish: Crawfish maque choux - Antlers

Best overall stand: Lagneaux's - Alligator bites, Boudin, Seafood Jambalaya, Shrimp poboy.

Weakest food: Zea's Duck Empanadas. We all looked at each other asking if anyone could taste any duck. None of us could say yes.
