what size hooks and what type of line would yall use if just tying a line to a branch and putting meat on the hook and in the water?

My plan this weekend is to tie a few lines on and let them sit overnight and check them the folowing morning. Sound like a good tactic?

Big turtles snap small hooks in half.

I've caught turtles on lines so yes, your plan is viable.

I put gizzards on both. Have never caught one on the treble though.

Will not use treble this summer.

Rope is basic nylon.

Saw something today that disappointed me so much. I was driving and noticed a turtle in the middle of the road. As I passed it I was fairly certain it was a snapping turtle AND that it was dead.

Turned around and it was still in tact (sp?) but was dead. Could not believe some Cajun Coonass ran over a snappa.

It was only about 8 inches but I would've relocated it.

Caught a small softshell yesterday. Haven't really been at it too hard.

Had one BIG softshell and two small ones today. Dang photobucket won't let me upload for some reason. Will post pic when I can.

Big one's shell was 16 inches long and 12 wide. Anxious to clean and eat it. Will be the first time ever eating softshell.
