It is pretty amazing. Duck Dynasty brought in 8.6M viewers last week, and WWE professional wrasslin brought in 4.2M. Oreilly and Anderson Cooper came in 2nd and 3rd respectively, with 7.6 and 6.8M.

I think these numbers just give you an idea of who is watching TV.

To put that in perspective, about 127M people voted last presidential election.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I find the show a breath of fresh air.

And I think they make Louisiana look good, not bad. They are nice, classy people...albeit very goofy.

Rednecks from the south are allowed to make fun of themselves within the staged appearances. The setting and culture are characters in the show and not some kind of circus act. The format is less condescending to the conservative and southern point of view than anything else on television now. It's entertaining without making fun of those of us from the south.

It is very similar to what happened with "Forest Gump". No one really expected the movie to do well but America connected with Forest. He was a moral person who made decisions based on right and wrong. He represented a large part of society who still believe in good and evil and he lived his life to be good.

bullshite, the media just wants you to believe this to further their agenda.

The problem is conservative America doesn't have any balls. The first time the left screams hate or racism or anything like that they shut up. Nothing will change until the right tells the media and the left to go get fricked.

I will add, Duck Dynasty represents what is still good about America. I for one am a fan of the show and the family. They reperesent Louisiana well.

I didn't catch that they actually beat out The O'Reilly Factor last week.

I personally think the show is great. There are not many shows on TV now a days that you can watch with your 5 year old and not worry about them beeping ever third word and things like that. They have good values, and they pray which is something I personally think this country needs more of!! It may be stupid at times but what a way to wind down from a stressful day at work!

Oh Boy! Be careful! Rex will be out in a minute to remind us of the "evils" of prayer...

COPS did focus on a specific group of people

DD is a breath of fresh air or opposite of the train wreck bull shite people that typically make up reality shows. IMO they are genuinely good people

Let me preface this with saying I like the show.

But someone at work commented that it was the Kardashians forrednecks and I really didn't have a response to that, it's more or less true.

Isn't Duck Dynasty highly subsidized by tax payers?

Not reading 3 pages of DD crap. If this is the highest rated show on TV we have failed as a people. I love hunting and all but the three times I've tried to watch this cluster f of a show I've wondered why are they on TV.

Meh, to a point. Sure there is manufactured situations, but when I made my previous post, I meant season-long bull shite that gets dragged on and on, episode after episode. I can't think of a single thing that occurred in one DD episode that was even mentioned in a subsequent one. Of course each episode with have a "story" or a theme to that specific episode. If it didn't it would just be redneck Jackass.

I think it is mostly white Republicans watching all that TV. Duck Dynasty (8.5M) and Oreilly Factor (7.6M) were top dogs. Jeez, chalkies.

That means about 7% of the last presidential voting pool tuned in to the Duck Dynasty politics.

Reread my post.

COPS doesn't follow a specific group of cops or a specific group of suspects throughout the series.

Because they normal louisiana people who happen to be filthy rich.

If you didn't know any better and you met them on the street (or more appropriately a boat launch) you would think they were just normal good ol people you could hang out with.

Plenty of people can relate to the Robertson's much better than they can relate to the jersy shore crew.

Si generally makes me laugh. I do wish they could take the staging of it down a notch.

It is what it is. Their real daily life would be about as eventful as ours if it wasnt scripted. I'm sure they are astounded as most people are at their success. Looking like river rats paid off for them.

You see those guys all over Ouachita Parish. They all have huge trucks with with duck commander stuff all over them. You cant miss them.
