49ers traded up for a S so you have to think he would have been an option for them as well and once he came off board they made the move for Reid.

Jarvis Jones is a sexy pick but stenosis could be a career ender for someone in that position, it's a risky pick but you can't ignore his production.

Only player I would have considered over Vacarro would have been Floyd at Fla or Datone Jones from UCLA (film on him was pretty impressive) but S had to be the priority because they would not have gotten quality for that position that late.

If Chris Faulk is available in 3rd, that should be the pick, he would have been 1st or 2nd round pre injury.

And yet, we still have no pass rush

We could have easily addresses this need in the 3rd or 4th. The elite pass rushers are gone, the better safeties still are

John Clayton singled the Saints out as one of the four winners of the draft, but what does he know?

I'm a bit miffed they did't go for Jarvis Jones.

guys like john clayton don't typically say "mean" things like "safeties are not a valuable position in the NFL today", especially on a positive day like draft day. he just simple: need + grade = fit calculations that your LCM can digest

So true my friend. Just checked our stats and we have fricking zero sacks in the month of April. Saints are doomed.
Hope May is better.

What a fricking dumbass you are.

How in the kamikaze phuck can you predict the future.

You realize the front that we have in house right now, fits the 3-4 so much better than that cluster frick of a defense Spags was running last year?

Gallette could be a 10-20 sack guy in 3-4
Butler could be a 10-20 sack guy in 3-4
Bunkley Has proven to be dominant in 3-4
Hicks yet to be proven, but fits the scheme
Jordan exactly what he was projected to be

Dont spout shite off like that man. Seriously. Especially when we changed the dynamic of the defense that allows pass rushers to thrive.

I hate the grades they hand out to teams after the draft.

Glaring holes all over the field on D. Cant argue picking a Safety imo.

Apparently he was the guy they wanted most and they got him. Hard to argue with that.

I certainly understand the pick and I hope he is great.

They got who they wanted. And as someone pointed out in another thread, safety play has cost us dearly in the playoffs...can't argue with that.

Not being able to rush the passer is what cost us in the playoffs man

and......letting TE's and WR's run free...not stopping the run...not tackling well and you remember that run in Seattle? That was not about a dang pass rush was it.

In the past 5 years how many times has the top 2 safeties been a bust? How many times has the 4th ranked pass rusher been a bust?

Good points. These retreds do not realize that
everything on defense was the problem, not just the pass rush.
