we have bunkley, but i could see us possibly getting an option in the 3rd. i seriously doubt hicks can play NT, even in a 1-gap 3-4

I think they are good with Bunkley/Hicks at NT....Ryan doesn't really utilize big hole plugging DT's

He likes quick pass rushing DT's like Jay Ratliff

i'm pretty sure when ryan was DC at Oakland and Cleveland, he used 2-gap DTs

he was left with ratliff from the phillips regime and worked with what he had

It has also been stated that Hick will back up Bunkly at NT for now. So, they have two. They also have Smith, Jordan and Coleman for DE. It was said that Hicks will also play DE at some point. I don't think DLine is priority at this point.

ETA: I said "point" a lot.

I think someone will be there in the 3rd that dropped from the second. We probably plan on going BPA OLB/DL, but if there is someone there that wasn't supposed to be, the FO has proven they are willing to grab them regardless.

This board seems set with our current players at all defensive positions. The homerism is mind-boggling. Just read the threads, we have some bad arse players on our D.

No one thinks we are set with current players. We just know what we have right now and its doubtful there will be too many changes at this point. We also got 2 pretty good players in free agency.

What's mind boggling is why some people who never post here feel the need to come here and school everyone with their immense bank of knowledge.

I think we should, just so we can keep our streak of neglecting LT going.

Honey Badger in the 3rd and Best Safety Available in the 4th. Gotta rebuild this defense

False. He was forced into running a 4-3 by Sapp/Ownership at Oakland(and stuck with what they had there already).

He moved Rogers to DE at Cleveland because he liked him more as a penetrating end. He did not use him as a 2-gap NT.
