It's obvious the rest of the country is tired of the SEC dominance. Is College Football at a low point with it? They've sent their best teams from other conferences (Big 10, Pac 12, Big 12, Independent) to get a crack at us, but they've all failed. Some miserably.

Take a look at the SEC championship streak and the 10 years before it.

2012 - Alabama (defeated Notre Dame)
2011 - Alabama (defeated LSU)*
2010 - Auburn (defeated Oregon)
2009 - Alabama (defeated Texas)
2008 - Florida (defeated Oklahoma)
2007 - LSU (defeated Ohio State)
2006 - Florida (defeated Ohio State)

* - LSU defeated Alabama earlier in the year in Tuscaloosa. 9-6. Deal with it.

Prior 10 years:

2005 - Texas (defeated USC)
2004 - USC (defeated Oklahoma)
2003 - LSU (defeated Oklahoma)
2002 - Ohio State (defeated Miami)
2001 - Miami (defeated Nebraska)
2000 - Oklahoma (defeated Florida State)
1999 - Florida State (defeated Virginia Tech)
1998 - Tennessee defeated (Florida State)
1997 - Nebraska/Michigan split National Championship
1996 - Florida

Those 10 years included:
3 SEC Champions
3 Big 12 Champions
1 Pac 12 Champion
2 Big 10 Champions
1 ACC Champion
1 Big East Champion

It was much more of a mixed bag and many teams had a shot to win at the beginning of the year. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, LSU, Penn State, USC, Texas, Miami, FSU, Virginia Tech, etc all had a great shot at the title. It was much more open and exciting.

You could seriously argue that the best six teams in the country for the 2013 season consist of all SEC teams:

Alabama
LSU
Florida
Georgia
Texas A&M
South Carolina

Honestly, I'd be shocked if the SEC didn't win it again (assuming we don't cancel each other out and each teams has a couple of losses from beating up on each other).

Is the SEC run great? Yes. I've enjoyed it thoroughly. But, it seems like it's getting a little stale at this point. I can't recall who said this, but he was dead on when he essentially said "We crowned the National Champion when Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC Championship". The Alabama-Notre Dame game was nothing more than a ceremonial game.

I'm not an SEC hater, and I'm not butthurt over all your championships, but it would be refreshing to go into a season not knowing an SEC team is a lock for one of the spots in the BCSNC game. Not saying they don't deserve it; not at all. Shame on the rest of the schools for sucking so hard.

My impression is that a lot of fans of non-SEC teams are losing interest in cfb.

Seriously? That is a pretty myopic viewpoint.

The rest of the country is smart enough to recognize how far inferior of a product college football is. The only thing it is good for is that it develops players for the pros.

Its a best-of-times, worst-of-times situation. At the same time cfb is banking more profit than ever, fans of non-SEC teams are growing frustrated with what they view as an uneven playing field. Expect major structural changes in the near future. The playoff is step 1.

Is it that inferior? I question this assumption.

From a strictly objective evaluation of the quality of play? Hell yes. From an entertainment value perspective? Not really.

It doesn't bother me who wins each year really.

but when rival fans in the SEC start pulling for one another, it gets annoying.

I guess they aren't the only fans who do it but I remember a time where rivalries were a lot more intense.

Like in the 90's for example, not many people where I'm from could stand the Florida Gators. Everyone wanted to see Spurrier lose, same thing with Tennessee when they had a nice run there also.

but now its like, hope y'all trash Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl brother!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oregon was very competitive in 2010.
Texas was in 2009.
We never found out of OK St. could've hung in 2011.
2007 Ohio State was probably the 3rd best team they could have matched with LSU (USC, Georgia).

It is certainly a difficult argument to make, but SEC teams have certainly had a little luck during the run (Colt getting injured, Iowa State beating OK State, Stanford beating USC, etc.).

Yeah.

If the rest of he country loses interest the sport as a whole suffers. Money evaporates, and even SEC programs will degrade slowly over time.

As I said, your view is myopic (which means "short-sighted").

It's not like the NFL is that great of a product either. It's impossible to play defense and there are no dominant teams. It seems like there are 10-6 teams winning the Super Bowl all the time now. I miss the days when Super Bowl champions almost always had a 12-4 record or better. Unfortunately those days are long gone now.
