Cardinal Fans...Is There a Part of You That Enjoys the Angel's/Pujols Struggles?

Particularly Pujols? Now, before anyone accuses me of being an a-hole and relishing in Pujol's relative collapse and injury, let me explain...
If he was severely hurt, I would pray for his recovery. Truly.
However, considering we're talking about a painful heel that is affecting his swing...I don't feel too bad saying that I smile when reading about the possibility of a more permanent move to DH only 2 years into a retarded contract.
It appears that the Cardinals were winners in the Pujols fiasco after all.
Plus, I love that the Angels fail to elevate their performance as high as their payroll. Absolutely love it.

I don't root for Pujols to fail, but I do enjoy seeing him put up lesser numbers and the Angels being the ones stuck with the bill.

You said it best. I have the tendency to ramble, what I can say?

I'm kinda indecisive, last year I enjoyed him putting up subpar numbers
This year I don't really care. That said I don't want him goin and Breakin the all time HR record or anything......not that he will

I'm sure Angels will take 30 home runs, 100+ RBI, and a 140+ OPS+ every year

I'm more just glad the cards didn't pay him that crazy money
I don't hope he plays bad. Doesn't bother me. He's a great guy from what I hear so wish him well

He's about as nice of a guy as a player can possibly be. He is also full of shite.
He repeatedly told Cardinal nation that he loved St. Louis and that his decision at free agency wouldn't be about money.
Well, It was about money after all, especially considering the Cardinals offered him a ridiculous 10 year $210 million.
I guess a few million more and a DH role was more important than that statue standing next to Musial outside Busch Stadium.
Oh well...the Angels can settle for good numbers. We'll continue to win Championships on an intelligent budget.

I don't know about the Cardinal fans but the Astros fans are probably pretty happy considering they're still stuck in the same division with him.

I'm not happy to see him hurt and struggle...more so happy that it's reassured that the Cards made the right decision.

The Astros aren't good enough to worry about anyone but themselves.

And I'm sure that won't happen. This is the high water mark of his production for the Angels. It gets worse from here. Holding steady would be a miracle. More than likely, it will get worse. Much worse. He's 33 now, how do you think his numbers will look when he's 37, making $20 million, and still has FOUR years left on his deal?

I honestly think he was a roider

that contract still blows my mind.

Pujols has a history of starting off slow. I believe last year he did not get his first HR til mid/late may (not positive on that though). Like the poster said earlier he will finish the season off 30/100/.300
He is also dealing with planters fasciitis which is very unpleasant.

Huge Cards fan, completely indifferent to how he performs.

If he does it through 36 and then at 37 dips to 20+ till end while playing DH then Angels will find it worth it. They knew when they signed him he wouldn't avg 40+ a year.
Hell even with what he did last year he is still a top 3 first baseman in the league, possibly only behind Prince and Votto

He doesn't have a history of starting slow. He started slow last year, and it was also his worst season of his career.
In his career, he has hit 308/413/588 in April. Actually, his splits are pretty impressive because there is so little variance month to month. He just flat out hits, all the time.

Nope I don't pull for him or the Angels to fail. Angels are in the American League so I could care less, it has no direct effect on the Cardinals. I hope he hits some landmarks while he's there 500 HR, 3k hits, 2k RBI etc. He was a great player while in STL and did some great things. Went to 3 WS and won 2. Provided clutch unforgettable moments and always gave it his all. I hated to see him go but I'm glad the cards didn't get stuck with that ridiculous contract. He should've got a 5 year deal at best. Now it's probably easier to deal with considering the struggles of the Angels missing the playoffs and his decline statistically, while the Cards were 1 game away from back to back WS appearances.
