It's basically a dried ranch seasoning mix they put in.

Doesn't taste like ranch seasoning or any other heavy seasoning. How do you know this for a fact?

Calvin's is real good stuff, I buy it a lot....And than you've got Ralph's Market, made offsite chicken salad that tastes crappy and has a sell by date that's a month long.

Ralph's should at least make an attempt at having something good, like a chicken salad.

I was purchasing some one time and a guy from NOLA was grabbing a couple of containers and tells me that he picks some up every couple of weeks.

Just go to Langenstein's and get their almond chicken salad. Stuff is fantastic.

I've had it. I wanna try this infamous Calvin's chicken salad. It has been brought up countless times on this site. Not quite on Johnny's Pizza level yet though.

ETA: best chicken salad I ever had was from Bruno's located at the Summit in Birmingham

And I was thinking that BR had finally one-upped NOLA in something.

Guess I'll start a best poboy thread. BR is sure to win that.

I think it tastes good, but the consistency freaked me out. It was shredded thin, which I like, but it was pretty dry so it just formed globs and oozed from the side of my sandwich in globs It wasn't wet enough to break apart.. it was more like a dough consistency. Weird.

I'm with LL on this one. It tastes okay, I guess, but the consistency is absolutely terrible. I like chunks, not spreadable chicken.

Spread some Calvin's chicken salad on a Johnny's pizza and it might make it edible.

And the dried ranch dressing isn't even close.

The tarragon chunky chicken salad at Whole Foods is pretty good.

I'm the opposite. I can't stand chunky chicken salad anymore than I like chunky potato salad. Yuck.
