re: Moving to Lafayette

There are a few subdivisions coming up between Duson and Scott. Good areas to live, but out a ways. Good commute to Scott, but kinda country area.

There's some nice pieces of land out there for sale that's not in subdivisions if you don't mind living that far out of town. I couldn't see living out in Duson just to live in a subdivision

They are both off of Fieldspan near hwy 90. You may have a Duson address, but they aren't in Duson.

Not sure what you're price range would be but I develop real estate and have a subdivision on the South Side (Hwy 167) that is in a good area...safety, convenience, traffic, etc.

My partner builds homes also, all custom and there are a few houses for sale in the neighborhood.

There's a quiet subdivision off of Dulles...on the border of Scott & Lafayette

Grew up in this area. There is Fox Chase, La Village, and Prairie View.

re: Moving to Lafayette

My parents live in one of those subdivisions and I must say the houses are no where near as close as alot of other subdivisions in the Lafayette area. For them it was perfect because their old house was on about 6 acres near Mire and my dad was getting sick of having to take care of the yard. Plus we've lived out in the country our entire lives so it being even just a little closer to Lafayette was a plus.

Check out St. Landry Parish just north of Carencro and south of Grand Coteau and Sunset. Your commute would be much shorter than Broussard/Youngsville (you do not want to drive across Lafayette at rush hour). The property is cheaper, there are some nice areas and there are no permitting concerns. The downside is that the public schools are nowhere near as good as Lafayette. There are good private schools around.

There are good places to live in the Scott/Carencro area. Make sure you check the houses in that area well as many flooded when the area received around 15 inches of rain in one day in March 2012.

Actually the area marked "country" on this map is now one of the best areas around Lafyette to live.

These are all legit. Also, Family Life Christian Academy is a good school in the area (across the street from West Park actually). Small class sizes, good teachers, and all around good people.
