I like the whole "Escher is actually Kiera's son" approach....not sure about the rest, but it's a interesting take on things for certain

Your spoiler theory has to be right.
1) It fits the general direction they've gone with Father, Son, Grandson
2) It explains why Kiera was chosen to be sent back. That's never felt right since she all she was, was competent at her job. If you're sending someone back to save you you either send the best, someone you trust or someone you know and Kiera doesn't meet any of that criteria.
3) It adds another potential spoilerish plot twist in that if Kiera does go back then Alec is never born. That actually gets to Stu's question about if Alec was really motivated by changing things then why was he ok letting Kagame kill all those innocent people? Kiera had to go back for Alec be born and I suspect Escher will reveal all this at just the moment Kiera has a way to go home.
