I get the feeling that he needs her to help his younger self.
thats a given - in the first episode, he very obviously pulled his strings to ensure she was in the "execution chamber" - and I kinda (maybe incorrectly) assumed he also facilitated the time jump orange slices

He wants the future to change.
does he? I kinda wonder if his successes are actually a result of liberate forcing the hand and making "the corporations" the new government. He's got a ton a power now, perhaps he needed the revolution??
I cant quite see the connection between him, his stepbrother, and Kara...yet.

The nightmares that she had appear to be related to her "preparation" or training for that very thing and her trip to the past.
yeah, but are they actual memories? or something generated?

I thought he said that in the message or while he was writing it. Maybe I missed something.

no, he absolutely said it in the message - but was he just appealing to a fresh-faced young kid with a heart to do the right thing? Is he manipulating himself??
its a mindfrick

One of the things I love about the show.
I also like the fact that it seems to be independently determining its rules for time travel. Yes - there are only so many ways it can go... and all have been used before - But I love the fact that the characters are just as in the dark as the audience (at least for everyone but future Alec).
Here's a pretty in-depth review of the S2 premiere.

Isn't the premise of someone having a huuuuge impact on his present world and trying to redo all of that through his own resources and through himself personally in the past...through time travel... isn't that a whole new twist on it though?

(I forgot where)
but I very recently read that this season they were going to clear up any sort of "what is/is not allowed" in time-travel rules for the show.

You can see his facial expression is full of guilt and grief. But that could also mean that he feels guilty for leading his younger self on. The homeless guy from last season said that other people are traveling back through time, privately funding. Maybe it's just elder Alec or it could also be his competitors. Somebody in the past was responsible for getting her clearance with the police.
I also think that her husband has some idea of what was being done to her.

He was obviously aware... just wasn't told his wife would be in there.

Good point. I have a feeling that elder Alec sent her back because that's how it happened when he was younger. Maybe be knows so much because he's already been through it. Now he might be trying to change things, for better or worse
Also the homeless guy in the season finale said that others are traveling back through time, privately and secretly funding personal trips.

Interesting that the blonde Liberate chick is connected to older Alec as well in that trailer.
Finally got around to catching the first episode, nice start to the season. This show needs more Kellog, he's awesome.

The preview was great for sure!
Is the show doing well in Canada? Just curious, because I want to see this show get a proper run and ending like Fringe did.

It's that channel's highest rated original scripted show.
Apparently the S2 premiere did 40% better than the Lost Girl finale which had the same time slot the week prior.
