Tavarsha Scott, from Ringgold, played at southern-shreveport two years ago and northwest florida community college last year which finished in the top 5 and lost in the quarters by 1 to the number one seed. Would love to get closer to home. She is a excellent rebounder and offensively can fill the 3 or 4. Was the sixth man this past year but lead her team in both rebounds and points. In high school at ringgold her senior year had a 50 point, 30 plus rebound game. Excellent work ethic and great kid. She has taken visits recently to UTEP, Texas A&M, Grambling, Ok State is scheduled as well as Tennessee Tech.

Exactly. Sometimes, addition by subtraction is the way to go.

I had someone with insight into the situation tell me that even after all of her flaking out and school hopping, Caldwell was going to give Forthan one last chance to come back to LSU (she never did technically enroll somewhere else, apparently). Caldwell put it in the hands of her team...and they voted that Forthan NOT be allowed back on the team. That should tell you something right there...

Ouch! If true................

I'm actually waiting for the announcement that Baker won't be coming back. I'm sure it's forthcoming very soon.

Usually there's an announcement made in April or May when these situations occur.

All very interesting and agree with the extra post need and someone to replace sure shot run and gun Webb...

We'll miss Webb's leadership no doubt. But with the lineup we'll have next season, I think we'll still be good as far as scoring from the guard position. This will probably be our starting lineup.......

Harden - PG
Kenney - SG
Ballard - SG
Plaisance - C
McKinney - F

That's a pretty darn good lineup...............possibly better than last season because of the addition of a true point guard.

Harden is a clone of Adrian Webb, the difference is Harden is a way better defender, she cause a lot of problems for opposing guards. She averaged close to 3 steals a game last year. This team will be scary this year, our guards are athletic as hell. Ballard has a year of experience under her belt. Plaissance, Kenny develop another year in the off season. While adding depth with very talented players. LSU might be playing with a 4 guard lineup next year.

Kenney
Ballard
Moncrief
Hardin
Plaissance

I dunno about her being a WAY better defender than Webb. Webb was a pretty good on-ball defender. But, she's as good. More importantly she's a PURE point guard........................which we didn't have on the roster this past season. So now Kenney AND Ballard can both go back to playing shooting guard. This team will be very athletic. But I don't see Nikki going with a four guard starting lineup. Having two posts that go 6'5" and 6'4" proved invaluable during the teams late season run this past season. This team will be able to run and at the same token, they'll make scoring in the paint VERY difficult for the opposing team.

I can only imagine the havoc Ballard and Harden will create for the other teams' guards, when they're trying to bring the ball up the court against us. It'll be like having Temeka and Scholonda all over again!

hmmmm, is there going to be 3 point success IYO?

There is obviously some good talent but 3 pt and post play = better hopes for final....

I have seen a lot of film and have talked with several coaches, without a doubt she is a better defender than Webb. That isn't a knock on Webb at all!

That's good news as seems to have a quick jumper like Webb.

Where are the 3 pointers coming from as not sure Ballard shoots em?

And you think we might get another big for the class?

As of right now, the most consistent three point shooters on the team currently are Plaisance, Kenney (when healthy),and Pederson. Ballard also shot them but, her percentage wasn't that great. I hope that we get another post player in this class but at this point it would most likely be a JUCO transfer and I doubt we're gonna add anymore JUCO players. But who knows what Nikki might decide to do.

When I hear you say that my next question is, is she a better ON-BALL defender or is it that she just produces a lot of steals? Ballard led the SEC in steals, but it appeared that Webb was a better on-ball defender. One need only look at how she harassed Maggie Lucas during the NCAA tournament for evidence of that.

Remember that very well. Any other consistent 3 shooters that might show up (thus far) as understand many can develop

Very good on ball defender, she creates a lot of turnovers.Ballard is better in more steals but Hardin is very effective, she will frustrate opponents.
Btw I'm pretty sure this class is finished, we will have:
3 Freshmen
3 Sophomores
2 Juniors
3 Seniors

Thanks Tigerbait and looking forward to seeing our girls play next year. Sounds like we are going to be bettre than this year, or hope so with more players...

I know this is irrelevant but Caldwell and the staff have been hitting Florida and Georgia this week scouting a lot of young talent and getting ahead early

I think we will be better next season. If you remember, this season the team went through an adjustment period for much of the first half of the season. Next season, there will really only be one new starter..............albeit the point guard. But she's a very good point guard and one who already has one year of Division I competition under her belt. If this season's team had not gone through early growing pains, they'd have won 25 games. I think next season's team will win at least 25 if not more.
